  • Adults-only Anglesey touring aire with stunning Yr Wyddfa views
  • Rhosneigr Beach 15 minutes’ drive; Eryri National Park half an hour
  • Well-kept gravel pitches; several restaurants within 15 minutes’ drive
Spectacular views to Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) and other peaks in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park will be your constant companions at Carreg Y Fran Aire, a peaceful adults-only stopover for caravans and motorhomes on the Isle of Anglesey. Surrounded by unspoilt nature, the well-maintained hardstanding pitches all have black waste disposal and fresh water for guests to use. At five minutes’ drive off the main A55 North Wales Expressway, the site is centrally located on Anglesey and thus handy for all its attractions, from the beach at Rhosneigr (15 minutes by car) to UNESCO-listed Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes). It’s also only 20 minutes to Holyhead ferry port, in case you’re travelling to or from Northern Ireland. For self-catering supplies, there's a sizeable supermarket in Llangefni (10 minutes), or a small basics shop in the local village of Gwalchmai (five minutes). Alternatively, the island has many good restaurants and cafés within 15 minutes’ drive. While you’re on your scenic pitch, hopefully you’ll experience the colourful sunrises and sunsets that Anglesey is noted for. And when conditions are right after dark, you may get to see the Milky Way and meteors glittering in the skies, or the Northern Lights dancing across the horizon.

What customers say

This quiet and peaceful site offers spacious, clean pitches with ample separation and is praised for its value and friendly, accommodating owners who provide clear directions. Facilities are basic but well-maintained, including waste disposal and fresh water, making it ideal for self-contained units and overnight stops. While some reviewers noted a lack of obvious signage and a difficulty finding refuse bins, most found the experience relaxing and centrally located for exploring the area, with many expressing a desire to return.

Local attractions

If you fancy a day on the coast, you have several options. Rhosneigr (15 minutes’ drive) is one of the most popular beaches on the island; its two long sandy stretches have facilities for many different watersports and lots of cafés and bars. Trearddur Bay (20 minutes) is a quiet sweep of sand, while on the north-east coast Traeth Benllech (25 minutes) is good for sea fishing and dinghy sailing. There are endless scenic walks on the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path (15 minutes), which follows 135 miles of stunning seascapes. If it’s challenging mountain biking or climbing that takes your fancy, then it’s a quick hop back over the Menai Bridge (also 15 minutes) to the Welsh mainland and the vast landscapes of Eryri National Park (half an hour). Anglesey has a long history, best seen at neolithic earthworks like Castell Bryn Gwyn (15 minutes) or the burial chambers at Bryn Celli Ddu (20 minutes) and Trefignath (15 minutes). Coming forward in time, Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes) was built (but not quite finished) by Edward I in the 13th-century, and is well worth visiting to walk around its walls and explore the sturdy towers and gatehouse.
