  • Caravan and Motorhome Club site on Anglesey; Benllech five mins' drive
  • A mile from the beach and coast path; red squirrels on site
  • Member price shown; non-members select £15/night extra or join for £69
For many visitors, a highlight of any trip to Anglesey is the chance to see the island’s wildlife. And that can certainly be on the cards at Cae Mawr Anglesey Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite – this lovely touring site in the island's north has a couple of red squirrel feeding stations to help you spot these rare native animals. It’s that sort of detail that makes this such a great location for an Anglesey break. Pitches have been thoughtfully laid out to provide plenty of space and a sense of privacy – you’ll have plenty of room for your kit and won’t ever feel crowded in here. This site in the village of Marian-glas is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club and open to both members and non-members, with member discounts. The price shown is for members, so non-members will need to select the £15 per night extra or buy a £69 membership – well worth considering if you're likely to spend more than four nights at a Club site over the coming year, as it brings discounts at more than 140 UK sites, plus other perks like access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance and discounts on days out. Set up with touring vehicles in mind, this site has a chemical disposal point and motorhome service point but no guest toilets or showers. Barbecues are permitted, and you can pick up supplies at the shops in Benllech, five minutes' drive away. The village also has restaurants, cafés and takeaways – plus one of the best beaches on the island. This location feels nicely peaceful, but good main road access means it’s easy to get out to explore all corners of Anglesey – even the furthest reaches around Holyhead are only a half-hour drive away.

Liked Gorgeous site, owners especially lovely and very helpful.
Loved all the meadows for the wildlife and we even spotted a red squirrel!!
Site has no toilet block for anyone reading, which doesn’t bother us but may affect how long you book on site for.
Pub at end of road! Perfect

Local attractions

Anglesey is a wonderful place to explore on foot – and you’ll be well placed for that when you stay here. The Anglesey Coast Path (which goes around the full perimeter of the island) is a mile away, and you can follow trails to places like the Lligwy Burial Chamber (10 minutes’ drive), the former brickworks at Porth Wen (20 minutes) or the colourful scenery of Parys Mountain (20 minutes). Traeth Bychan (half an hour’s walk/five minutes’ drive) is your closest beach, and a lovely spot for a picnic or launching a boat. Benllech (five minutes’ drive) is another excellent local option, or you could cross the island for Rhosneigr and the gorgeous Newborough beach (both half an hour). Something a bit different? Pay a visit to Beaumaris Castle (20 minutes), stroll around Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens (25 minutes) or swoon over the shiny vehicles at Anglesey Transport Museum - Tacla Taid (half an hour).
