Tent and firepit

  • Well-maintained dog-friendly site on the Isle of Anglesey
  • Sandy beaches and Caernarfon Castle within a half-hour drive
  • Furnished bell tent with covered barbecue and firepit
Anglesey glamping with or without the family dog in tow? You'll be most welcome at Caeau Crinion. At this small site five minutes' drive from the town of Llangefni you’ll be sleeping in a modern bell tent with a real bed, a dining table and heaps of storage space for all your bits and bobs. Outside, on the well-maintained lawn, there’s a firepit with more seating and a covered area with a gas barbecue and a washing-up sink. Other facilities on site include a toilet and shower block and a launderette. There are spectacular country views all around the site, and it's often treated to pretty stunning sunsets too. Plus, there's a pub just five minutes' walk up the road, which serves well-portioned meals. Fancy a hike? Stretching along the Afon Cefni river, the 25 acres of the Nant-y-Pandy nature reserve (five minutes’ drive) are home to woodland, fields of seasonal bluebells and birds like blue tits, herons and kingfishers, plus butterflies. If birds are your thing, the wetlands at RSPB Cors Ddyga (five minutes) sustain populations of lapwings and curlews, and you might catch a glimpse of a marsh harrier in summer and winter. And if you’re here on your bike, you can cycle around the Llyn Cefni reservoir (five minutes’ drive or a 15-minute bike ride). Here for the coastal times? There are several sandy beaches within a half-hour drive, including dog-friendly Traeth Mawr (on the south coast), backed by a dune system that’s home to choughs and skylarks; and, on the north coast, Llanddona, which is popular with windsurfers and kayakers.

Evening Glow bell tent

Liked: The campsite was immaculate, the bell tents were so comfortable and homely. Such a peaceful little place we will definitely be returning in the near future, the site owners can’t do enough for you. They even let us charge our phones in their conservatory. The site has everything you need, the shared toilets and showers were very clean. Thanks for a great stay

Disliked: Nothing to dislike, it was a 10/10 trip

Local attractions

Want to brush up on the Welsh art scene? Then head to Oriel Môn (10 minutes’ drive), a gallery focusing on the works of Charles Tunnicliffe, renowned for his drawings of birds, and landscape painter Kyffin Williams, plus other local artists. There are also archaeology and social history collections. If Oriel Môn has whetted your appetite for art, check out Plas Newydd House and Gardens (15 minutes), home to one of the UK’s largest murals, a 17.5-metre work by Rex Whistler. This 18th-century mansion is also worth a visit for its gardens and views across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia. Cross the Menai Strait and head to Caernarfon (half an hour) to check out the imposing medieval castle where Prince Charles was invested (a UNESCO World Heritage site). If you want to go further back in time, there are also the ruins of Segontium Roman Fort on the outskirts of town.
