Stunning sea views and sunsets

Church bay beach

  • Dog-friendly Anglesey pop-up site with views of the sea and Snowdonia
  • Walking distance from beaches, the coastal path and summit trails
  • Walk to the pub, seafood restaurant and café; shops a short drive out
Wake up and walk the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, or perhaps challenge yourself to a local hill summit. Based on the northwest coast of Anglesey, you’ll have lots of choice over how to spend your time from Llain Ffynnon Camping. A morning brew over the site's sea views? Taking the 15-minute walk down the closest beach for a quick dip in the sea? Or perhaps you’d rather go for a dog walk towards the mountains (after all, dogs are welcome here too). You’ll need a good pair of shoes, that’s for sure. One of the big perks of this site is that it’s easy to get to many places on foot. The local pub in Church Bay is only half an hour’s walk away. It’s also on the way to the rockpools at Porth Swtan beach (40 minutes’ walk) or the seafood restaurant and café close to the shore. You’ll get an idea of the splendid walks around these parts just from glancing at the views from this site. Based quite high up, Llain Ffynnon Camping doesn’t just have views over the northwest coast – you'll catch Snowdonia's mountains, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the northwest of England on a clear day too. The site is only a short walk from access points to several well-maintained public footpaths, including one with access to the Mynydd y Garn summit. If you need to pack some snacks and sandwiches before you go, there are two local food shops in Llanfaethlu or Tregele, 10 minutes’ drive from the site. Once you're back at base, make use of the hot shower and toilet facilities available to freshen up again.

What customers say

This campsite offers breathtaking panoramic sea views and a peaceful, remote atmosphere. Guests consistently praise the friendly and welcoming owners, the cleanliness of the basic but well-maintained facilities, and the excellent value for money. The freedom to choose pitches and the abundance of space are also highlighted. While some note the exposed nature of the site and the lack of hot water, the overwhelming sentiment is positive, with many visitors expressing a desire to return.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Great views
Nice owner (?) - we saw the same lady there a few times and she was sorting out problems on site
Good location
Easy walk to pub (20 minutes)

Disliked Over-booked site - arrived over bank holiday weekend and the site was very busy - only 3 toilets and 2 showers (1 hot water, 1 cold water). The hot water was very intermittent in the hot shower, and all water to the site cut off quite frequently also.
There was no hot water for washing dishes.

We were next to a group of people with 2 collie dogs that were roaming loose with no one watching them - they scared a young child walking her dog on leash, she ran to her mum, crying.

Liked Location was stunning.
Staff were friendly and helpful
Facilities were clean
The site had a relaxed feel with no set check in/out times.

Disliked It was a bank holiday so understandably extremely busy however there did not seem to be a limit on numbers on the site. Three toilets for the whole site did not seem sufficient and there were often lengthy queues.
The water pressure was also not great and we often saw staff manually unblocking toilets meaning one or more of the three was then out of action.
We would stay again but at a time that would likely be quieter.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Can't fault the location and the great people that run the campsite. Facilities are great and its good value.

Disliked The traffic getting there and the unpredictable weather. Unfortunately 2 things which we can't control that make or break any stay. I've stayed here before and will do so again, was just shocked how cold wet and windy it was, compared to the rest of the UK, which is just the luck of the draw. We will return. Its like Anglesey has a climate all of its own!

Local attractions

You might first spot the Goleudŷ Ynysoedd y Moelrhoniaid (The Skerries Lighthouse) from the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. Up close, after a chartered boat ride from Holyhead (25 minutes’ drive), the view is even better, and the birdwatching just as splendid. The seabird colony at Cemlyn North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) is pretty spectacular to watch too. A shingle ridge, lagoon and plants such as sea kale and sea campion are part of the highlight reel at this place – just the thing if you're a fan of spying on wildlife. Those of you who are planning on spending a lot of your downtime beside the sea will be happy to find that there are a number of beaches that are easy to get to from Llain Ffynnon Camping. In fact, the National Trust’s Traeth Ynys y Fydlyn is half an hour’s walk away, and there are caves and rockpools to rummage around down there. Further out, other gorgeous beach locations include Cemlyn Bay (15 minutes’ drive), Porth Trwyn (10 minutes) and Traeth Porth Wen Beach (15 minutes).
