  • Family-run site in a peaceful countryside location near Aberdaron
  • Well-maintained facilities and top spot for stargazing
  • Café serving breakfast, snacks and hot meals throughout the day
Set on the very tip of the National Trust-managed Llŷn Peninsula on the north Wales coast and overlooking Bardsey Island, Ty-newydd Farm is a fenced site a mile from the coast with heaps of space for kids as well as open fields aplenty in which to fly kites or get competitive at cricket. (Sinking down with a book, particularly while the kids are safely roaming free range, would be a highly decent option of choice too.) The family running this sheltered and long established farm and campsite are landscaping and developing it in an environmentally sympathetic manner to keep in manner with the scenic surrounds. It has ladies' and gents' toilets, two spacious showers, four shower units/rooms, a disabled-friendly shower and baby changing facilities. Two washing-up sinks with free unlimited hot and cold water are just outside the shower block; a water tap and waste water disposal point are halfway down the site along with a chemical toilet point. Ty-newydd Farm also has a well-stocked café serving breakfast, snacks and hot meals throughout the day; supplies can be sorted at Aberdaron village about a mile and a half away.

What customers say

This campsite offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, with many guests praising the friendly staff and clean facilities, especially the hot showers. The on-site cafe is a popular feature. Some visitors noted that the Wi-Fi signal can be poor, and the road access is narrow. Showers require a 50p coin. While most found the facilities adequate, a few mentioned them being basic or in need of an upgrade.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Nice site in a lovely area
It has a good cafe with pleasant staff and nice food.

Disliked The toilet block was small for the number of campers.
Some campers, 10 or so in 4 tents arrived very late on (after 10:30 ) and were very noisy until 2 am putting tents up, moving cars around..
Last admission should be 2 hours before dark.

Liked Great location, stunning views, lovely relaxed campsite atmosphere.

Disliked Toilets were often not clean. Would have expected them to be cleaned every day and one block wasn't.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely rural location,

Disliked Lack of freshwater points and pressure low so took an age to fill our water tank. 50p for showers- I’d rather pay a bit more for the booking. Entrance is quite tight so awkward getting in and out. Wi-Fi only available in the cafe and no mobile signal.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Quite spot with some partial views of coast and surrounding areas. It looks incredible and has some clean newish toilet block near to our Pitch.

Disliked Felt a bit sorry as the electrical supplier had decided to do works when we arrived and so had no kitchen...we had planned and looking forward to trying the on-site café...
Not much offered in way of food replacements.. shame really...
We also encountered the people staying on the back of our pitch decided to throw items over the hedge which hit our dog.

Local attractions

The lovely Llŷn Peninsula is a stellar spot for walking, birdwatching, rock fishing and wildlife watching as well as stargazing: Ty-newydd Farm is in a highly rural area with very little street lighting and no industry (that means very clean air too). The clear night skies around the farm and the peninsula have been lauded by astronomers as the clearest they've ever seen in the UK, so settle down here of an evening to spy planets, millions of stars and even the occasional flaring comet… Local walks are sorted directly from the site to Aberdaron via the Mynydd Mawr monument at the top of the headland – you could miss out the Mynydd Mawr part of the walk if you're doing it in the evening to take in the also stellar sunset sinking down over Bardsey Island. If you're off to Aberdaron, have a hunt for St Mary’s Well or Ffynnon Fair, the freshwater spring at the foot of the Mynydd Mawr cliffs. It's covered by sea water twice a day, but you wouldn't know that by tasting it: bring and fill a bottle or two to take back home. And as you're this close to the north Wales coast, days out at the local beaches should also be hunted down: have them at Aberdaron, Abersoch, Porth Neigwl, Pwllheli…
