  • Family-friendly Snowdonia holiday park in 200 acres of woodland
  • A 10-minute drive to Porthmadog; 15 minutes to Portmeirion
  • Restaurant and bar on site with heated terrace and play area
Beaches in one direction, mountains in the other… and in the middle, the splendid 200 acres of woodland that make up the grounds of Aberdunant Hall Holiday Park. With heaps of peaceful space on site and lots of choice for days out nearby, the accommodation options at this Gwynedd holiday park make a great base for a break spent exploring Eryri/Snowdonia National Park and the Llŷn Peninsula. Everything has been set up to make life as easy as possible at this family-friendly park – beds are made up, towels are provided and each unit has its own bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Not that you have to cook if you don’t fancy it, as the park has its own restaurant within the lovely setting of the Victorian manor house at the centre of the estate. There should be something for everyone here, with veggie, vegan and gluten-free options available and a kids’ menu for smaller guests. If it’s just a drink you’re after, well, that’s fine too – the manor house also has a contemporary bar area with a wide range of drinks options. In summer time, the heated terrace is the place to be, with chilled-out music and candles bringing the atmosphere and pizzas, hog roasts or barbecue nights providing the food. Working up an appetite should be easy enough given all the hiking and outdoor activity options in this area, plus beach days near Porthmadog and outings to places like Portmeirion. Even staying on site should do the trick, as you can follow nature trails that take you to a stream and waterfall, or just let the kids burn off energy at the playground.

Local attractions

Eryri/Snowdonia National Park is a well-known hub of outdoorsy activities, so come along ready for walks from the pretty village of Beddgelert (10 minutes’ drive), ziplines, underground golf and cavern adventures at ZipWorld Llechwedd (25 minutes) and mountain bike trails at Coed y Brenin Forest Park (half an hour). A trip to Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon (15 minutes) is another option, whether you climb one of the paths or ride the Snowdon Mountain Railway (25 minutes). Bit of beach time after all that? Black Rock Sands (15 minutes) is a nice choice, with rockpools, sand dunes and low-tide caves, or you could head out onto the Llŷn Peninsula for days in Pwllheli (half an hour) and Abersoch (40 minutes). Along the coast you can also check out castles in Criccieth (15 minutes) and Harlech (25 minutes) and spend the day exploring the gorgeous Italianate village of Portmeirion (15 minutes), where the colourful buildings and exotic gardens feel like a world away from their North Wales setting.
