  • Friendly family-run Llŷn Peninsula site five minutes' drive from Nefyn
  • Tŷ Coch Inn 10 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Pwllheli
  • Bar and play area on site, plus accessible bathrooms
There’s a real history at Parc Gwynus, a friendly Llŷn Peninsula site about five minutes’ drive from Nefyn. So much so, in fact, that you can still see visible remnants of a Bronze Age settlement here as well as a farmhouse that dates back to the mid-17th century. The family that now run the site also have quite the history – they’ve been here since 1936, passing the property down through the generations to the current owners. And you can see why they’d choose to settle in this peaceful spot and not leave: it’s surrounded by green views and looks out towards the Irish Sea in the background too. You can get to the village easily enough for a shop or a meal, and there are lots of great beaches, walks and historic attractions close by as well. And did you notice the views towards Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park? It’s about a half-hour drive away and packed with wonderful outdoor activities. The famed Tŷ Coch Inn, right on the beach, is about 10 minutes’ drive from here – but if you don’t fancy going that far for a drink it’s handy to know the site has its own little bar, serving up a range of drinks (including Welsh beers and spirits) and snacks. Other facilities on site include a play area, a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with wheelchair-accessible facilities. It’s a pretty laidback place here, so feel free to bring your kids, dogs and pals along – along with all the bits you’ll need for campfire or barbecue evenings.

Wild meadow camping non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Loved the wild camping. Great for my pony loving 4 yr old with the horse trotting about the field. Wouldn’t be good if you squeamish about horse poo or whatever. The toilets and showers were always clean. Felt safe, secure and off the beaten track enough to be an adventure but then everything we wanted was nearby. Only 3 other tents in field at the most during our stay. No WiFi but that’s not expected somewhere so rural. Loved the owner! A really historically important guy. Ask and he might tell you why.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Location is amazing. Great access to the whole of the Llyn Peninsula; everything is within a 30 min drive (more or less)
Laundry on site. Covered pot washing. Play area for the kids was great. Multiple toilets. Easy to find, good signage. They had surprise free wifi. Would definitely go again.

Disliked Showers / toilets are very functional. Not the most plush, (partner was less keen on this bit). Being on a working farm, there is some movement of animals, which is done speedily and efficiently but does break the tranquility of the site if you are staying on site for the day for around 20 mins late morning. Not a big deal.

Wild meadow camping non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Well sign posted, everything as expected. Went as a last minute single night away for our 1 year anniversary. Wild camping. Seperate parking to camping but you can stop by the field gate to unload before parking up less than 100 yards from field. Toilet block was clean and well kept from what I saw of the ladies side. Small, owner run bar with very reasonable prices with bench area to chat to other holiday makers. Only 20 mins from Criccieth, less than that to Pwllheli and Porthmadog. Lovely scenery.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

To the beach first? The Llŷn Peninsula has several excellent options to choose from, with Nefyn (five minutes’ drive) being your closest – a lovely little spot with sandy areas, rockpools and stunning views across the bay to the mountains beyond. Pwllheli (20 minutes) and Abersoch (25 minutes) are both top choices for family outings, with soft sand, watersports activities and places to eat and drink nearby. Meanwhile, surfers should take their boards to the big waves of Porth Neigwl (35 minutes) while those in search of a scenic pint head to the ever-popular Tŷ Coch Inn (10 minutes). For more ways to fill your days, try the watersports and other activities at Glasfryn Parc (15 minutes), scream along the world’s fastest zipline at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (45 minutes) or take it easy with gentle strolls around the castles in Criccieth (25 minutes) and Caernarfon (half an hour).
