The nature lovers' campsite in the very heart of Snowdonia. Llyn Gwynant campsite lies on the shores of the lake below Snowdon, in the most beautiful valley in Wales. It is an ideal base for walking, swimming, climbing and other adventure activities or for relaxing by your own camp fire. No radios are allowed, recycling is required and respect for the land and for others is essential. You will find lots of information and images on our website, www.gwynant.com.

Route directions

The campsite entrance is on the A498. In summer Sherpa buses drive past the campsite from Caernarfon to Pen y Pass (S4) or from Porthmadog to Betws y Coed (S97). The nearest train station is Betws y Coed, so you can get a bus from there. Trains also serve Bangor and Porthmadog. From Bangor you will need two connections, via Caernarfon, Llanberis then the Sherpa bus to Pen y Pass and the campsite.

Local attractions

Leave your car at the campsite. You can walk up Snowdon directly from the site, go boating or swimming on the lake or go climbing in a nearby nature reserve. Many scenic hillside walks can be accessed from the site, and the lake and river shore offer a beautiful place to relax. Canoes and kayaks can be hired for boating on the lake. Adventure activities including gorge-walking, climbing, raft building can be booked at the campsite from our own instructor.
