  • Precipice Walk 15 minutes’ drive; Pony Path to Penygader 20 minutes
  • Kitchen, woodfired hot tub and a firepit/barbecue at each cabin
When picking your accommodation, do you look for spectacular views, a proper bed and ample outdoor space? If so, take a look at Cesailgwm Glamping. Its luxury camping cabins are on a peaceful family farm in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, surrounded by mountains and a 20-minute drive from the coast. The cherry on top is that each of these cabins has its very own woodfired hot tub, a firepit/barbecue and a fully equipped kitchen. Now’s your time to browse the pics. The outdoor seating has views of distant mountains, and the cabins have a modern bathroom with a powerful shower and a cosy living space with bar stools. Luxury bedding and towels are all laid out for you, so no need to do much except plan your next steps… First up might be filling the fridge with food from the local market town, Dolgellau, a historic place just 10 minutes’ drive away. It has welcoming pubs, restaurants, big supermarkets and independent shops. When you’re ready to stretch your legs or get out your bicycle, there are stunning routes nearby including the Precipice Walk (15 minutes’ drive) with views of classic Eryri peaks, or the Mawddach Trail (10 minutes away) along the southern shore of an estuary. If you like to end any bike ride or stroll with a sea dip, you’re also all set with Barmouth beach a 20-minute drive away. Most of the beach is dog-friendly, which should be good news if your canine pal wants to join your break. Your well-behaved, house-trained dogs are welcome at Cesailgwm Glamping for an additional fee. You’re either allowed one large breed or up to two small to medium-sized dogs per stay.

Local attractions

Keen to go biking? Dyfi Bike Park (35 minutes’ drive) is a more daring alternative to the nine-mile Mawddach Trail. The 650-acre bike park is in the Dyfi Forest, its trails being quite spectacularly set into the mountainside and ranging from red to triple black diamond. No wonder people travel far to get there. If the mountain hikes are what brought you to Eryri (Snowdonia), one classic walk is the Pony Path to Penygader (20 minutes). Head up the mountain and, on clear days, you should be able to spy Bala Lake in the distance. Adventures of all kinds are on tap in this part of Wales. Zip World Llechwedd (40 minutes) is another fine spot, and one that should be totally different to anything else you do. Its Bounce Below attraction has trampolines laid across six underground chambers. If you’d rather stay above ground, it also has zipwires like the Titan, which flies above Llechwedd Quarry.
