General

  • Scenic site surrounded by 52 acres of woodland wildlife haven
  • A short walk from the beach, harbour and shops of Trefor
  • Direct access to the Wales Coast Path

Jeff and Shirley welcome you to Parc Elernion in north Wales: a small quiet park at the base of The Rivals (Yr Eifl ) which rise 1,700 feet behind the site.

The site is a short walk from a lovely little sandy beach with a harbour , and has direct access to the Wales Coast Path. It's surrounded by 52 acres of woodland: a diverse mixture of scrub, grassland and streams provide biodiversity for wildlife including bats and badgers and many flowers including bluebells.

The site is a short drive to historic castles and villages along the Welsh coast. A drive inland will take you to Mount Snowdon with its railway if you don’t fancy the climb.

A toilet and shower block and a laundry room were added in 2016.

Good site, great location for peaceful break 17/09/2017

  • Liked:

Very peaceful location with a babbling brook running through the site. Fabulous new shower and loo block complete with good coin operated laundry facilities. Good base to explore the lovely Llyn peninsula. Mine host is very amiable and relaxed..

    Disliked:

No dislikes as such. Electric hook up is only 6 amp which means a bit of jiggling with appliances to avoid trip outs, but once you get the hang of it it's fine..

Quiet site with spotless facilities. 29/08/2017

  • Liked:

Quiet setting with great woodland walks next to the site. Only a small tent area but we were the only one there, most of the site is static caravans plus some hardstanding for tourers and motorhomes. Toilets were luxurious for a campsite and kept spotlessly clean. Showers powerful with plenty of hot water. Rope swing over river was a big hit with our son (10). Small selection of books to read.

    Disliked:

Only 2 unisex showers / toilets so if 2 people were showering there would be no toilet available. Lights in toilet / shower on a timer but not possible to cancel or reset the 30 minute time so if you went in and the light was on it may turn out while you're in the shower!

From the manager...

Touching the light switch even when on will reset the lights to stay on for 30mins.
We have low wattage emergency lighting, so its never dark in the toilets/showers even if the main lights switch off.

Lovely location, peaceful and ideal for families. Our children liked sleeping in a tent with sheep and cows in the next field. The facilities were great and nice and clean. The owners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Overall a lovely weekend break.

    Disliked:

On arrival it wasn't so obvious where the reception was. The reception sign needs to be bigger.

Local attractions

The park is a short walk from the fishing village of Trefor, with its shop, pub/club, harbour and beach.

This is a top place for walkers: it's adjacent to the Welsh Coastal Path with direct access to 52 acres of woodland, and a 10-minute drive to the spectacular restored Welsh language centre which is a wonderful place to start from (and have a coffee overlooking the sea). You'll have access to mountains, woodlands, rivers, ponds and beaches – everything is located within a short distance.

For culture vultures the site is within easy reach of Caernarfon, Porthmadoc and Pwllheli. Gwynedd hosts several music festivals and the agricultural shows are not to be missed.

Go karting, 10-pin bowling, wakeboarding and archery are available at Glasfryn Parc, a couple of miles away. The local town of Pwllheli is about six miles away, with shops, pubs, restaurants, a marina and an amusement park.
