Local attractions

Cae Clyd is five minutes from the Lon Eifion path, the 11-mile strolling and pedalling track along a disused railway from Caernarfon to Bryncir on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Its flat and traffic-free route makes it a top option for a family walk or bike ride; if you seek something a tad more taxing, the lengthy Wales Coast Path is also close by. You could be around for weeks with all the stuff to see and do here, but the site team particularly recommends Llanberis and the slate museum (free to visit); the Electric Mountain; Llanberis Lake Railway, and the Snowdon Mountain Railway, all within 25 minutes' drive. For adventuring, there's cable wakeboarding and go-karting at Glasfryn Park (15 minutes), ziplining at Bounce Below (45 minutes), and boarding at Surf Snowdonia (55 minutes), as well as all the activities on Llanberis Lake. Top castles to trek along to include Caernarfon (15 minutes), Criccieth (25 minutes), Harlech and Beaumaris (40 minutes) or Conwy (45 minutes)... and history of a different sort is at the Italianate village of Portmeirion, within half an hour. Gypsy Wood family park and Greenwood Forest Park are 10 and 25 minutes away.
