    Owner was very welcoming.
Toilet block was clean, showers lasted for ages for a 50p charge.
    Proximity to the beach
Availability of a freezer for ice blocks

    Disliked:

The beds were uncomfortable to sleep on - OK to sit on but couldn't lounge on them easily. They were a bit like crash mats from the school gym.

The beach was really close. Had a beach fire ,enjoyed skimming stones and toasting marshmallows .

Had to take our own toilet rolls. You were meant to be quiet after 9.30pm but a tent was having a very loud party with music and laughing until early hours of morning. Glad to be going home. Toilets area not clean .

Being so close to the private beach on-site was great with the fantastic views surrounding and the sunsets across the sea are amazing. The site and beach really are a hidden gem, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the town and main road but not too far away to visit nearby Caernarfon and the beach further along the coast at Dinas Dinlle which is only a couple of miles drive and has free parking, fish and chip shop, couple of giftshops, ice-cream, and there is also a café and a coffee place and Caernarfon airport. It is also possible to walk along the beach from the site to Dinas. Very peaceful site and beach with the pods tents and caravans nicely spaced out in separate areas, very clean communal showers and toilets and there is also washing and kitchen facilities. The Pods are superb, cosy and very comfortable! We have visited twice and will definitely return. Thoroughly recommend if you want a peaceful getaway near the sea!

Local attractions

Cae Clyd is five minutes from the Lon Eifion path, the 11-mile strolling and pedalling track along a disused railway from Caernarfon to Bryncir on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Its flat and traffic-free route makes it a top option for a family walk or bike ride; if you seek something a tad more taxing, the lengthy Wales Coast Path is also close by.

You could be around for weeks with all the stuff to see and do here, but the site team particularly recommends Llanberis and the slate museum (free to visit); the Electric Mountain; Llanberis Lake Railway, and the Snowdon Mountain Railway, all within 25 minutes' drive. For adventuring, there's cable wakeboarding and go-karting at Glasfryn Park (15 minutes), ziplining at Bounce Below (45 minutes), and boarding at Surf Snowdonia (55 minutes), as well as all the activities on Llanberis Lake.

Top castles to trek along to include Caernarfon (15 minutes), Criccieth (25 minutes), Harlech and Beaumaris (40 minutes) or Conwy (45 minutes)... and history of a different sort is at the Italianate village of Portmeirion, within half an hour.

Gypsy Wood family park and Greenwood Forest Park and 10 and 25 minutes away.

Must see

  • Caernarfon Castle (6.4 miles)
  • National Slate Museum (10.2 miles)
  • Snowdon Mountain Railway (10.2 miles)

National Trust

  • Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens (11.3 miles)
  • Plas yn Rhiw (19.8 miles)
