  • Friendly Eryri/Snowdonia site on the banks of the River Glaslyn
  • Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon Watkin Path five minutes' drive away
  • Beddgelert's cafés, pubs and railway station less than a mile away
What a gorgeous spot for a break in the fresh air of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Cae Du Campsite is on the banks of the River Glaslyn less than a mile from the pretty village of Beddgelert. Now, if you’ve heard of Beddgelert, that may well be because it’s known as something of a hub for approachable walking trails, and it’s got a Welsh Highland Railway station – and both of these elements make it a good base for exploring your surroundings. On top of that, the village has its own attraction in the form of Gelert’s Grave, and it’s got several pubs, cafés and craft shops too. The walks from Beddgelert aren’t the only options around here, of course – in fact, one of the national park’s big (literally) attractions is just up the road in the form of Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon. It’ll take you about five minutes to drive to the trailhead for the Watkin Path, passing the pretty Llyn Dinas lake as you go (handy for a post-climb wild swim perhaps?) And there’s plenty more to keep you busy… including a short walk to the excellent Sygun Copper Mine, an outing to the beach in Porthmadog, an adrenaline-filled excursion to Zip World Llechwedd or history-tinged wanders around the castles of Criccieth and Caernarfon. Little bit tired after whichever outing you chose? Well, there’s plenty of space to relax back at the park, and you should hopefully sleep well in these peaceful surroundings. Wifi, a washing-up area, a launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers are on hand to make life comfortable, and you’ll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light a campfire to finish your day in traditional camping style.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite offers stunning mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere, with many guests highlighting the beautiful location and proximity to Beddgelert village via a lovely riverside walk. Pitches are generally spacious, and facilities are clean and well-kept, though some mention them as dated. Staff are consistently praised for being friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The site is ideal for walkers, with numerous trails accessible directly from the grounds. WiFi is available, though phone signal is poor. Some guests noted midges, and a few found the price high, but overall, visitors expressed a strong desire to return.

Electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Loved our first camping trip 3 nights at Cae du with two young children. Amazing views and so much space. The family zone and picnic areas were perfect for our kids to play and we especially liked being able to go on fun walks straight from the campsite and along the river without having to drive. Lovely little playground and cafe for ice cream and coffee at sygun mine only a short walk away and beddgerlet village another lovely short walk from the campsite. Facilities were all close by and well maintained. We will definitely come back and explore some more :) thanks

Disliked As first time campers we couldn’t fault the place, maybe in the family zone area a some playground equipment would be fun for the kids.

Electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked We arrived and were advised of the pitch we had been allocated. We made our way and found the site to be water logged as it had been raining heavy the night before.
I asked if they had alternative and we were offered another pitch.
Overall the site is clean and neat and well maintained. Staff very friendly and pleasant. The riverside walk is a lovely bonus especially if you like a nice walk in the evening.
Lots of local walks from the site without the need to take the car, which is a bonus.

Disliked Lack of toilets and showers for such a big site
