  • Spacious touring pitches at a quiet Flintshire farm site
  • Chester and the North Wales coast both 20 minutes' drive away
  • Village less than a mile away for a shop, café and two pubs
Fancy some Flintshire fresh air, with the chance to mix your countryside days up with city and coast outings too? Set off to Sandy Lane Farm, home to a spacious touring site just outside the little village of Higher Kinnerton. This location, almost on the Wales/England border, is a nicely rural one, with a peaceful atmosphere on site but easy access to the village (less than a mile away) for a shop, a café, a post office and a couple of pubs. Mold and Wrexham are both about 20 minutes’ drive away on the Welsh side of the border, but the big urban day out around here is Chester, over in England but also about 20 minutes’ drive away. The surrounding countryside offers up all sorts of outdoor activities, including walks, watersports and highly scenic games of golf, and there's also the option of getting up to the coast for seaside walks and beach days. In between all these outings, you’ll be staying at a quiet dog-friendly site with spacious pitches and access to essential facilities including toilets, showers, a chemical disposal point and picnic tables for your outdoor meals.

What customers say

This is a quiet, spacious, and well-maintained farm campsite with friendly and helpful owners. Pitches are generally large and flat with good EHU access. The location is praised for its peaceful surroundings and proximity to local pubs and shops via pleasant walks. While many reviewers found the basic, unisex toilet and shower facilities adequate, some noted they are dated and in need of updating, with a desire for more than one unit. A few guests experienced difficulties with pitch accessibility in wet conditions or with accessing the site upon late arrival.

Liked Customer service. Great welcome from the owner. Cute site. Very quiet. A lovely pub within walking distance via a path through the fields. Basic but nice facilities. For us it was a great stepping stone on our way to tour north Wales and Anglesey.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked EHU hookup worked and pitch was ok

Disliked Toilet, washroom and shower room all in one unit - very poor and dirty with old towel instead of hand drier, used bar of imperial leather soap on basin and many used shower gels dotted around. My wife says she did not feel comfortable using the shower and toilet as there was no separate shower cubicle and the room secured by a half frosted glass door.
Final payment asked for in cash but no change given as promised by person and no one about before 10am to ask.
It seemed as if the site was being used by commuting workman with no their leisure travellers on the night we stayed.
Lack of service facilities also.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked We enjoyed our stay at Sandy Lane Farm, we didn’t make use of the shower and toilet so can’t comment on them but the site was easy to access and very peaceful.

Disliked The electric tripped a couple of times despite running very little off of it. It was easy to fix but a bit of a pain when the fuse box was the other side of the field!

Local attractions

Being only a few miles from Chester (20 minutes’ drive) brings with it all sorts of excellent options for days out, including city walks around the cathedral and city walls (the oldest and most complete in Britain and then the chance to see it all in brightly coloured miniature at Chester in Lego. A little way outside the city centre are Chester Racecourse, Designer Outlet Cheshire Oaks and the popular Chester Zoo. Back out in the countryside, there are plenty of great places for walks, including Alyn Waters Country Park (15 minutes) or Nercwys Forest (25 minutes), and some fun activities like axe throwing, paddleboarding and art workshops at Park in the Past (10 minutes). Rack and Ruin Alpacas (20 minutes) is another lovely local spot, offering the chance to take a woolly friend for a walk. The North Wales coast isn’t far off, either, so you might like to head over there for a day at the beach in Rhyl (40 minutes), stopping off at waterside Flint Castle (20 minutes) on the way.
