  • Friendly family-run site just over three miles from Ruthin
  • Views of the Clwydian Range and its highest hill, Moel Famau
  • A mile from a bar-restaurant open from Wednesdays to Sundays
You’ll be close to weeks’ worth of stuff to see and do with a stay at family-run Maes Carafanau Llanbenwch Caravan Park, centrally set in north Wales and Denbighshire and within easy reach of adventures and attractions for all tastes. Scenery seekers (and sensible sorts) will want to stay put on site for quite some time too, among the spectacular views of the Clwydian Range and Moel Famau from this handsome Vale of Clwyd park, and plenty of green space to pitch up and picnic in. Hikers – and historians – are hugely well placed here too: the site also looks out towards nearby Moel Famau, the highest hill in the Clwydian Range, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and dotted with several Iron Age forts. The mighty Offa’s Dyke long-distance trail passes the hill’s summit. The caravan park is a comfy spot to come back to, with modern amenities, a friendly vibe and barbecues allowed – sizzle supper on the coals then settle back to contemplate the clear sky as night falls… A bar-restaurant (open from Wednesdays to Sundays) is about a mile away for eating out, and the pubs, restaurants and shops of the ancient market town of Ruthin are just over three miles from the site. Dogs are most welcome at the park, but should be on leads while on site – and cleaned up after, please.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The site is lovely! Pitches are spacious and well -spaced out, very clean and well maintained and our dog loved the dog walking area. The toilet/shower block is kept spotlessly clean and the views around the site are beautiful. There is also a great cafe and farm shop on site which is open til 4pm for breakfasts, brunches and lunches. We only got to meet the cafe/shop staff but they couldn't have been more helpful.

From the manager: Thank you very much for your review , we are so sorry you didn’t see the paths at the bottom of the drive we have maid in our fields saving going on the main roads ,the paths joins numerous public footpaths that takes you to to our local villages in the area which has been a massive hit with our campers and local people as they enjoy the breathtaking scenery on their walks we hope you will come again very soon to experience this walk / paths we have here to offer you
Many thanks

Local attractions

If you think your legs will take it, the team on site highly recommend a hike up to Moel Famau, the highest hill in the Clwydian Range and reachable within 15 minutes’ drive. It’s a climb of 1,818 feet to the top but do stagger up if you can – the views of north Wales and north-west England from the summit’s Jubilee Tower are stunning. Walks are easily accessed from Moel Famau too – if you dare – including a couple of short trails to the south (from the car park) and down to the village of Cilcain via the footpath from the summit. For the truly hardy, the local section of the Offa’s Dyke Path skirts alongside Moel Famau… it runs for a full 177 miles if you’re up for it… For a gentler day out, drive the five minutes or so to Ruthin for its restaurants, pubs, independent shops and 800 years of architecture around its narrow streets. It’s a pretty place to potter around, with plenty of the region’s famed black and white houses to see as well as peaceful times to be had by the River Clywd running through Cae Ddôl park.
