  • Five-acre family-friendly site overlooking the vale of Llangollen
  • Five-minute drive to Llangollen town and 40 to Snowdonia National Park
  • Restaurant, bar and playground on site
Seeking a scenic setting close to the countryside for dawdles around Denbighshire…? Then set your sights on a stay at Abbey Grange Campsite, on a five-acre site in front of The Abbey Grange Hotel and overlooking the pretty Vale of Llangollen. Surrounded by fields and mountains, this park is half a mile from the well-known Horseshoe Pass and is a convenient base for exploring the immediate hilly surrounds or taking on treks in Snowdonia National Park (a 40-minute drive). Chances to climb, cycle, mountain bike, fish and golf are also around the local area – just ask on site for the lowdown. At the park, charging facilities are on hand for ensuring your GPS has enough batteries for when you’re out and about exploring the region, whether shopping in Llangollen, five minutes’ drive away, for food to bring back and grill up on the barbecue or ambling to the Cistercian Valley Crucis Abbey (less than a 10-minute walk). On your homecoming from hikes or other similarly energetic activities, hotel facilities such as the restaurant and bar are accessible for cosying up with a pint or a meal, and there's an outdoor play area to keep the kids busy. The site has male and female shower and toilet amenities, plus chemical disposal facilities.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The views are lovely. A family place for camping, a little park for the children, just so relaxing and chilling on the site. Llangollen town 2 mins away in the car which we love, river dee, park plenty of food choices and shops.

Disliked: Nothing really to be honest, toilets and showers were clean when we used them. It is what it is in the camping 🏕 scene.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Quiet of field, area, simple electric hookup, good sized pitch, distance to amenities

Disliked: Showers and toilets definitely need updating, and the pub on site apparently “doesn’t do just coffee” which seems like a missed opportunity to me!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Location, facilities, friendly staff, on site pub was good and food was nice. Park for the kids and lots of space

Disliked: Shower/toilet block needs updating Showers had low water pressure and one had missing handle to turn off and on, also could do with a good clean. Campsite wasn’t very busy but can imagine there can be a bit of a wait if it’s fully booked to access the facilities.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: Quiet, friendly, scenic, next to pub

Disliked: Next to noisy farmyard. Machinery and generators going. Rough cut long grass with cuttings left behind that got everywhere. Very scruffy and lots of junk lying around. Overpriced for poor facilities
