  • Well-maintained site just off the A5 in rural Denbighshire
  • A 10-minute drive from Corwen or the edge of Snowdonia National Park
  • Half a mile from a café with hillside views
On the edge of Snowdonia National Park, Ty Cerrig Caravan and Camping is a homely North Wales site with stunning views over the Denbighshire countryside. This is a simple spot with a well-maintained toilet and shower block and generously-sized natural grass pitches. The outlook here is simply spectacular, with gorgeous views overlooking Foel Goch and the Berwyn Mountains. Ty Cerrig Caravan and Camping is located in a quiet location just off the speedy A5 road, meaning you're a mere 10 minutes' drive from the edge of Snowdonia National Park and all the amenities of Corwen town centre. For food, you're two miles down the road from a shop selling local produce and half a mile from a café that serves top-rated hot and cold food. Traditional camp dinners are also in the offing, as Ty Cerrig Caravan and Camping allows guests to set up barbecues in its grounds. Outdoor leisure activities are available in the local area, including go-karting at Glan Y Gors (five minutes) and watersports on the river Tryweryn at the National White Water Centre (15 minutes). The site also has direct access to the attractive Hiraethog Trail.

Liked: Beautiful views, chilled campsite and all the facilities you need for a night away

Disliked: Boggy grass but not the locations fault it’s the British weather! Just make sure you bring wellies and expect to get a little muddy!

From the manager: Thanks for your review. Little disappointed about boggy grass!! We've had a lot of rain and we managed extremely well under circumstances. Don't know where you saw boggy?? Thanks anyway

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Very very friendly staff and perfectly clean toilets. Basic campsite but lovely view across to the mountains, close to a cafe and very peaceful and great view of the stars at night.

Disliked: Only that the campsite can be boggy when wet but they helped us park up and limited spaces due to this.

From the manager: Thanks you for your review, glad you enjoyed your stay even with the weather!! Hope you will visit us again.

Liked: Very friendly host and spotless cleaning facilities

Disliked: Difficult to get perfectly level, recommend to plan ahead and bring something with you to level up if in a van.

From the manager: Thanks for your review. We do apologise for difficulty getting level but I think in the bad weather conditions we tried our best, unfortunately due to heavy rain for months then ground was soft which is nothing we could do to be honest, as said previously we tried our very best and think everything and everyone were happy.

Clean site, wonderful views peaceful atmosphere and friendly hosts.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: After a pleasant family day at Balla Lake my husband didn't really want to stay over but we are so glad we didn't go home because we would have missed this wonderful gem! Make no mistake this is just a farmers field with a small and worn but very clean well stocked shower and toilet block. We had a very prompt and warm welcome even though we were late and we're escorted around the field on the stone road. ( No slipping on wet muddy grass in bad weather) We were parked up making sure we would get the best view possible. Grass pitch was perfect with no signs of wear from previous guests and the view was stunning! Quiet place to chill and watch the sun go down. This is a working farm but we were made to feel that we belonged for the night and given space except for some very nosey cows poking their heads over the gate in the morning. Take a torch. We will definitely stay again.

Disliked: Nothing

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: When we first pulled up we were worried it would be too busy for us (it was bank holiday weekend). We booked at the last minute. On check in we were met with a very friendly lady and then we were shown to our pitch. To cut a long story short - we had a fantastic weekend at an extremely well run busy camp. The toilets and showers were kept very clean. There were signs saying ‘no music’ and this was upheld - you could hear a pin drop after hours. We would definitely recommend the camp to all ages and will be returning. The owners remained on site till late and were always happy to help. Excellent camp with great views !!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Local attractions

Here for a calm country break? Look out over heather-covered moorlands, peaceful woodlands and quiet lakes on the Hiraethog Trail, a scenic traffic-free walking route a few minutes' walk from site. Alternatively, take your angling gear down the road to try the waters at the Dragonfly Tea Rooms and Fishery, or head to Llyn Brenig (15 minutes), widely held to be one of the best trout fisheries in this part of the country. It's not all peace and quiet in this part of North Wales, though – you could also live life in the fast lane and go for a spin at Glan Y Gors go-karting (five minutes' drive) or hop from tree to tree at Zip World Fforest (20 minutes). Down the road, the National White Water Centre (15 minutes) has opportunities for high-adrenaline rafting on the river Tryweryn to try out too. For more days out, visit the lakeside town of Bala (20 minutes) and take a steam railway ride, head to Conwy's impressive castle (45 minutes) and go for walks by the beach, or head into the national park and explore Betws-y-Coed (20 minutes), a local shopping hub with bike hire, outdoor outlets and lots of good food options.
