  • Peaceful family-run farm site in North Wales two miles from the coast
  • A 40-minute drive to Snowdonia National Park; 25 minutes to Llandudno
  • Firepits and drinking water available; learn bushcraft skills
Hikers, stargazers and watersports fans alike will find their pursuit from Pentre Du Camping Club. With an abundance of wildlife on site, including birds, owls, foxes and badgers (if you’re lucky enough to spot them), this is a peaceful pop-up site in the North Wales countryside just two miles from the coast. Switch between hiking mountain summits, careering down nearby zipwires or pottering around seaside towns by day and return to peaceful (and often starry) skies at night. This family-run site is within reach of many active or laidback callings, within 40 minutes’ drive from Snowdonia National Park. Listen to the lull of the countryside and pick a plot among 15 acres of pitches set in the 60-acre farm site, including woodlands and trees for climbing. Let yourself be whisked away by several footpaths direct from the site, including the North Wales Path, 60 miles long (with links to the Wales Coast Path). The nearest sandy beach is also within 10 minutes’ drive (walkable distance too). This is certainly a peaceful site, as noise is kept to a minimum after 10pm. Use the toilets, showers and washing up points to prep for the day, and top up your flask using the drinking water supply. Bushcraft skills events are also available on site (speak to staff for details).

What customers say

This is a highly recommended campsite with very friendly and helpful owners. Visitors praise the clean and well-maintained facilities, spacious pitches, and the inclusion of fire pits at each pitch. The location is frequently highlighted for its beauty and proximity to excellent walking routes with stunning views. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention occasional noise from other guests or a nearby road, and a minor point about the size of shower cubicles and the number of toilets. Overall, it's considered a peaceful and enjoyable place to stay.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Sue and steve are excellent hosts, greet upon arrival, friendly and welcoming, selling baskets of logs for the campfires at individual tent pitches. Campsite as a whole is great for couples, families and those with dogs. We had an amazing weekend especially as it was our second visit to pentre du camping as stayed last year. We're looking forward to staying again next year. Overall recommend this campsite .

Disliked Thought basket of firewood was a little expensive this year at £12 as last year it only cost £7.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Owners very welcoming and helpful. My husband and I stayed for one night following a 53mile bike ride. The owners were very accommodating in allowing us to charge our bikes overnight (my husbands bike ran out about a mile before getting to the site).

Quiet and peaceful. Pitches are of a good size with each pitch having a campfire.

Local attractions

If you have an active break in mind, then you’ll be well-set with the surf simulation at Adventure Parc Snowdonia (35 minutes' drive). Take on new heights on the zipwires at Zip World Fforest (35 minutes) or Zip World Slate Caverns (55 minutes), where the Bounce Below experience will also take you trampolining in an underground world. Rock climbers will surely be drawn to the iconic cliffside of Craig y Forwyn (an hour and 10 minutes) while fishers should flock to Llyn Brenig (40 minutes) for fly fishing. Snowboarding and skiing more your kind of thing? The Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre (25 minutes) has dry slopes. Perhaps keep your eyes peeled for seals at Porth Dyniewaid Angel Bay (20 minutes) and more animals at Welsh Mountain Zoo (15 minutes). And if you’re still raring to go, the flume rides and slides at SC2 Rhyl (20 minutes) will pack some more excitement. For a more gentle stroll, Conwy Castle (20 minutes) or the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden (25 minutes) are also nearby.
