  • Small family-run glampsite at a Llanfairfechan farm
  • On the edge of Snowdonia National Park, 10 minutes' drive from Conwy
  • Beach, pubs, shops and train station within a short walk
With the north Wales coast on one side and Snowdonia National Park on the other, plus the A55 close by for easy access to all of it, it’s fair to say that Platt’s Farm Camping is in an excellent position for a break that’s packed with variety. How you organise your time is up to you, but there are many, many options around here, including hikes and other outdoor activities, heritage railway rides, beach days and castle visits. Bike rides long and short can be on the menu too, as National Cycle Route 5 passes close by. With all that on the schedule, you’ll need somewhere comfy to relax between outings – and this could well be that place. This small family-run site has just a couple of glamping units in the grounds of a Grade II listed Victorian farm on the edge of Llanfairfechan. A pebble/sandy beach is 10 minutes’ walk away, and there are plenty of other handy things within a short walk, including pubs, takeaways, a butcher and a couple of mini supermarkets. A bus stop and railway station are close by too for travels by public transport. Back at base, the glamping units are in their own dedicated field, where each has access to its own dedicated washroom facility. Cooking facilities and tables are in a large open barn where you can enjoy alfresco meals even on less clement days. Fire baskets can be hired from reception for warming your hands in the evening (with logs for sale too). Sound like something your dog might enjoy too? They’ll be pleased to hear dogs are welcome, and have an enclosed field where they can run about.

Butterfly bell tent

Liked: Had the best weekend at the campsite! On a hiking trip with 7 mates to climb Elidir Fawr circular which was a 20 minute drive away. We had the geodome and bell tent glamping and had the field to ourselves with the other tent plots in a seperate field which was nice and seating area with firepits for the evening and cooking equipment for breakfast, everything was spot on! Sam was a great host will be coming back in the future and would recommend especially the glamping :) 10/10

Liked: We loved everything about our stay. The bell tent was perfect, we had our own kitchen and shower room, the kids loved toasting marshmallows on the firepit in the evening in the barn area, we honestly couldn't of wished for better.

Local attractions

This site is just on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, a well-known outdoor activity hotspot. There’s something for everyone around here, from gentle strolls around villages like Llanberis (25 minutes’ drive) and Betws-y-Coed (35 minutes) to the huge endeavour of the Welsh 3000s trek (an undertaking not for the faint-hearted as it involves summiting 15 major peaks in one hike…) Alternative outings might take you to scream along the ziplines at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (20 minutes) or ride the inland surf waves at Adventure Parc Snowdonia (25 minutes). And if all that sounds a bit much, how about a gin tour at Aber Falls Distillery (five minutes) or a scenic ride on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway (55 minutes) instead? Soak up some of the area’s history while you’re here too, with trips to the castles in Conwy (10 minutes) and Caernarfon (25 minutes), or hop over the Menai Bridge to Anglesey (15 minutes).
