  • Friendly family-run site on the edge of Snowdonia National Park
  • Less than 20 minutes’ drive from beaches at Conwy and Llandudno
  • Tons for kids: zoo, aquarium, surfing, trampolining and karting nearby
At Erw Glas Campsite, a family-friendly site five minutes’ drive from the village of Maenan and 15 minutes from the town of Conwy in north Wales, you're all set for a nature-filled getaway. Erw Glas translates to ‘green acres’, and no other name would have been more appropriate here. Right on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, Erw Glas is a top spot for soaking up the spectacular scenery. Added bonus? Walking, hiking, biking and riding trails through the park are within easy reach of the site, not to mention all the fab spots to explore inside Snowdonia. If mountains and views aren’t your thing, try sand and views. Erw Glas is 15 minutes from the beach in Conwy and 20 minutes from Llandudno seaside resort, and there are loads of other heavenly sands within half an hour. Or you could take a day off from taking a day off and join the Wales Coast Path in Conwy – that’s 870 miles of sea views, so remember to stretch before getting started. When you’re ready to settle in for the evening, get that campfire lit and fire up the barbecue. Grab supplies at the supermarket 15 minutes away, and chow down in the peace and quiet on site (parties are forbidden here, so you don’t have to worry about anything damaging your calm) – while the cockerel, hens and ducks roam around...

Local attractions

Once you’re all set up at Erw Glas Glamping and Camping, start your explorations and adventures in Conwy, 15 minutes’ drive from the site. The walled market town is an absolute must for its medieval towers, Telford-designed suspension bridge, the Guinness Book of Records ‘Smallest House in Great Britain’ and the spectacular hulking castle that dominates the skyline and overlooks the beach. If you like poking around other people’s former homes, you’re in luck around here, with National Trust properties to make a beeline for including Beaumaris Castle, Plas Newydd, Penrhyn Castle, Aberconway House, Rhuddlan Castle and Caernarfon, all within 45 minutes of Erw Glas… or you could stroll through Bodnant Gardens for a day out in the open. There’s plenty to do around here too if the kids start tiring of castles and beaches (how could they, you ask): there’s an aquarium in Rhyl and the Welsh Mountain Zoo closer at hand, or you could try Surf Snowdonia (a manmade surfing lagoon), ziplining, Bounce Below underground trampoline park, or karting. Need to unwind from all the activity? Gwinwillan Conway Vineyard tours and tastings are 15 minutes away…

Liked: We had the grandest time in North Wales! There is so much to see, do, and explore! One of the reasons we had the best time is because of Erw Glas Glamping and Camping! We had a last minute booking and arrived late but they accommodated us very well. Rachael and her staff were all amazing - always smiling and very welcoming! They recommended lots of things to do near there such as the zip world, trekking paths, the nearest swimming holes in Snowdonia, and a lot more! Their location is great too as there were so many activities near their camping site but the site alone was so quiet and peaceful - perfect for a relaxing camping! Plus, they have all camping facilities, very clean and neatly arranged. The place has a very homey feel. We cannot recommend them enough!

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Erw glas camping was such a lovely campsite. Despite the weather not forecast to be on our side, the campsite being in a valley shielded us from the majority of the rain. The campsite it’s self was immaculate and very well run. No cars on the grass worried is at first but seeing the pitch set up and the safety of not having cars everywhere really made sense. Owners were lovely, really accommodating and our children fast became friends with their daughter. Views were stunning, rain or shine! Couldn’t have wished for a better site
