  • Dog-friendly site five minutes' walk from Sgwd Clun-Gwyn waterfall
  • Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre and BikePark Wales 35 minutes’ drive
  • Firepit and barbecue on site, plus a coffee shop selling hot food
Waterfall country beckons when you stay at Clyngwyn Camping, a simple, family-friendly south Wales site near the famed falls of Ystradfellte, on the edge of Brecon Beacons National Park. Four-legged friends are welcome, and there’s lots of room (nearly five acres, in fact) for them to run around in. Then, splashing in and out of the river Afon Hepste, they can join you as you explore the surrounding area’s watery attractions. The Four Falls Trail can be accessed directly from the site, and it leads to cascades like Sgwd Clun-Gwyn (a five-minute walk away) and the famed Sgwd Yr Eira, where you can go behind the water curtain for cool pics to make your friends jealous. If your waterfall exploration leaves you drenched, return to base where you can dry off and get warm around the communal firepit as you watch the sun go down over the hills. There is a barbecue area, too (though you’ll need to bring your own charcoal and wood), as well as a coffee shop on site selling hot drinks, snacks and simple hot and cold food. The site has no showers (unless you count the nearby waterfalls, that is), but there are portable toilets and running water, plus a communal fridge/freezer to store any bits and pieces for your barbecue. For shops, pubs and restaurants, you can head to the villages of Pontneddfechan (five minutes’ drive) and Glynneath (10 minutes).

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Friendliness of the owners and the stunning waterfall walk Cafe on site was great.

Disliked: Pot holes in road on route to campsite ( damaged caravan ) No welcome on arrival Got lost as signpost couldn't be seen from road due to car park. Owner out for day and no one answered B&B phone to help wandered around for 1.5hrs looking for place. Porta loos where not great with no hand washing facilities left a day earlier due to this problem.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The location is fantastic as well as the hosts. Very easy to find, and the lady provided us with lots of info and direction. Camp site pretty much 5 minute walk from one of the waterfalls. The campsite is an ongoing project, but it is already a lovely place to stay. Mid-week it was only us at the back field.
