Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We booked this very last minute (same day) and was our first time 'properly' camping. We were greeted on arrival, given all our instructions and staff were really friendly. The campsite was easy to navigate, with super clean toilets (and enough of them!), clean showers, charging points for anyone with non-electric pitches, a small play area for children (which we didn't need), but there were lots of kids present and they had loads of space to play! The pitches were level and it was really easy to set up with straight forward access to EHU. We only stayed one night but we absolutely loved it and we've already recommended it to friends with toddlers. There were some very noisy crows nearby and you can hear the road, but we're used to that from home so it didn't phase us!

Disliked: Nothing!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The welcome was very friendly and helpful, with nice suggestions on places to visit. There is a nice walk along part of the Severn Way a few minutes walk from the campsite. There's a pub and petrol station with a small shop nearby. Powis Castle is only 15-20 min away and worth a visit. We also climbed up to Rodney's Pillar (just a few minutes drive away) - we took the easier route and it was a nice hike for us and our 10yr old. The pitches are level and the grass just the right height to be comfortable. Toilets were nice and clean, if a little on the small side. There is a small playground. The campsite was not crowded at the end of August, so there was plenty of space for us and our daughter, plus some friendly sheep. It was a very nice, relaxing weekend stay for us. It is an accessible, farmland location with nearby services, so if you are looking for a practical no-frills campsite this is ideal.

Disliked: Pitches are right next to each other, so if the campsite is full this may be an issue. The same applies to showers - there are only 3 in total. There is some degree of road noise, but in our case it was the tractors working well into the evening that annoyed us somewhat. I guess it may have been the time of year, they may be quieter at other times.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Spotlessly clean toilet/shower facilities, with family room for those with young children. Electric socket next to mirror (with shelf) for personal hairdryer or straighteners. Bricks available to prop our own fire pit on. (Fire pits and logs are available for hire/purchase respectively). Clearly marked recycle bins. Friendly, helpful owners. There are some picnic benches next to the children's swings. Quiet site, with well organised plots.

Liked: Trinio is an amazing campsite. The location is perfect for exploring the area from with some lovely walks direct from the site. The site is well looked after and has a small swing set for the children. There is plenty of space to play and explore. The owners were fantastic and really knowledgeable about the area. The facilities were cleaned regularly and were immaculate with the best campsite showers!! We would 100% recommend Trinio and will definitely be returning.

Liked: Great stay, lovely staff, nice and clean toilets and shower. Loved how they only use the outer edge of the field for pitches so everyone has plenty of space. Couldn’t fault it.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Another fab few days at Trinio campsite. The owners, as before, were so friendly and chatty and go out of their way to help. We realised my hubby had forgotten his contact lens case....one text to Louise and they came over the give us one within 20 minutes! They keep the sight immaculate. Facilities are great.. single showers and also a family room. Porta loo on back field then 3 proper loos on the first field. The local pub is 15 minutes walk-they do the most amazing curries!! We asked for something that wasn't on the menu and it was no trouble for them to sort for us 😊. Shrewsbury is around 30 min drive away-lovely place. This time we visited the Berriew show (10-15 mins drive) which is held every August Bank Holiday. Well worth a visit, the kids and adults all had a great time. Thanks again....we'll be back, if you'll have us 🤣🤪. Hannah, John, Nick & the kids 😊

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful flat site, which is great for tents even though there were a number of camper vans. Ann & Andy worked so hard greeting people and ensuring the cleanliness of the whole site. Thoroughly enjoyed our bank holiday break and hope to be back soon. There’s a great Indian restaurant and pub down the road too.

Disliked: Would have liked a mirror in the toilets (for the lipstick wearers!?!) and more hooks needed in shower room. No WiFi but not really an issue for us.

Local attractions

Spotted Breidden Hill from the site? Head over to take a closer look – it’s only about 10 minutes away by car and has a circular walking route to follow. For other walks nearby, take a stroll through Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) or seek out the waterfall trail to Pistyll Rhaeadr (35 minutes). Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes) is another fine place for a walk, either taking the lakeside route or following the sculpture trail, and it also has watersports activities including kayaking and windsurfing. And if all of that sounds a bit exhausting, maybe a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (25 minutes) will suit? For different days out, have a taste of local history with visits to Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) and Chirk Castle (half an hour) or board a canal boat to float across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (half an hour). The sculpture trails at the British Ironwork Centre (20 minutes) make for a fascinating outing too.
