Non-electric grass and earth tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Really nice spot. Took two blow up Paddle boards and could launch right near the campsite. We went down stream to Hay on Day 1 and got the bus back. Was really good fun even the low water level and rapids did not stop us! They have a bar serving different food in the evening. Campsite is quiet and perfect for a weekend away. Day two went upstream and took in the amazing countryside waving to the friendly locals. Spent the evening at the bar chatting with the owner with a curry which he kindly ordered for us and picked up. Just what we needed from a week in work and felt "fairly" freshed on our return. I blame that on the local 1985 lager which went down way too easily!! Thanks!!!

Non-electric grass and earth tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Great location, near the river Wye and convenient for nearby Hay. The pitch site was nice and flat and the washing up facilities and cafe/bar onsite are a bonus. Check in was quick and staff friendly. Although we didn’t use the canoe hire, I could see this was very popular.

Disliked: The toilet block could do with an update, I had to move cubicle half way through a shower as the timer switch got stuck and no water was coming out. This was a shame as one of the reasons I chose the site was for the shower block facilities. It would also be useful to have a shelf/chair in shower room for clothing and towels. Shelves in the washing area/hooks on back of toilet doors would also be helpful. This said, however, I would still come back again as the site as so much more to offer.

As for the entertainment, it was top-notch and truly out of this world! There was always something fun and engaging happening, catering to all ages and interests. Non-electric grass and earth tent or campervan pitch

Liked: Straight forward check in ,shown around the site by staff all key areas pointed out.Good availability and variety of pop up food stands on site a bar and cafe with limited choice of snacks . Good access to the water. Lovely situation surrounded by trees grounds relatively well kept

Disliked: No designated pitches it seemed like a free for all . We had a VW transporter camper and we had the size of the vehicle and that was it . After the first night we moved on our own accord to a more suitable location. It was left too much to the campers to sort their pitches out , The larger groups took over the pitches leaving the individual campers to be pushed out to the corners and extremities of the site .It felt like the site was full to capacity and more .It was August bank holiday but even so . For breakfast bacon roll and a coffee but they’d run out of bacon by 10 am ? So no breakfast .Not enough facilities for the number of people on site .The complex was at one time (still is )run by a school all the facilities geared that way sinks few in number at reduced heights low mirrors, convenience stalls reduced in size and tired .some children had little regard for other campers and their parents just let them get on with it (it appeared that way )unsupervised

Liked: Many great things an on out this campsite. Firstly, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Secondly, location is fantastic, situated right next to the river wye you have easy access for walks or getting in the water. There is also a stony beach which is great for young children to paddle and throw stones. Finally, on the weekend we were camping there was a street vendor doing hog roast, and there was also live music. So there’s a nice atmosphere at the campsite.

Disliked: The price for a fire pit and wood etc is steep. £20 deposit for the fire pit, and then £30 for logs and fire starter kit.

Non-electric grass and earth tent or campervan pitch

Liked: The campsite was easy to locate and had great facilities for entertainment, a tented area to sit for a drink from the onsite bar and a sandpit for children. Ping pong for older children and adults and fire bowls for hire. The access to the river was easy and there was a good variety of hot / cold drinks and snacks available at the small shop.

Disliked: There are no marked signs to show you where to go once inside. The shop does not offer information or guidance on local attractions or a map of the camp and local area. No information given about activities available and prices. On site the staff vaguely guide you on where to pitch and once the site started getting busy things seemed get a bit chaotic in terms of pitch size. The toilet and shower facilities are run down and unkept sometimes not in working order.
