  • Scenic and remote-feeling Mid Wales glamping site
  • Clywedog Reservoir and Snowdonia walks within a 45-minute drive
  • Proper beds and firepit for each unit; communal cooking/eating lodge
Adventure awaits at Cledan Valley, hidden away in what the owners describe as ‘the wilds of Mid Wales’ – this is the kind of peaceful rural place that’s all about letting the kids build dens, hunt for bugs and follow treasure hunts, or simply for the grownups to chill out and soak up the spectacular green scenery that this area is known for. And comfort awaits too, because the glamping units at this Powys smallholding have been set up to provide cosy and comfy stays for all guests – proper beds, cooking facilities, lanterns and pretty furnishings come as standard, whichever unit you pick. Outside, each one has a barbecue/firepit with firewood provided, and you’ll also be able to use the communal lodge, which has a covered cooking/eating area as well as plenty of games and toys for the kids. Bathroom facilities have been nicely done out, as well – the shared toilet block has flushing toilets and a compost toilet along with powerful hot showers fed by spring water. There’s also a disabled-access wetroom, and the whole lot is cleaned daily to keep it in tiptop shape. There’s a real rural vibe here, with gorgeous green views all around and llamas, ducks and chickens to meet on site. It’s not quite as remote as you might think, however – in fact, it’s easily accessed from the A470 a mile away. Your nearest pub and food shop are in Carno, 35 minutes' walk away. The nearby villages of Caersws and Llanbrynmair (both 15 minutes’ drive) have more pubs and shops.

Goshawk bell tent

Liked: Absolutely loved our stay. Beautiful location, great accommodation with everything you need. Lovely and helpful owners, nothing to much trouble. Felt well looked after. Loved spotting all the wild life especially catching lizards with our 3 boys. They especially loved exploring and had fun with games provided in the communal lodge. Definitely be returning.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything! It‘s a beautiful well maintained site. Tents and Shepherds hut were spaced out well so it felt all very private. Facilities were clean and hot shower was great. We had everything we needed provided in the hut and my 7 year loved our stay too. The owner came by every evening to give us a fresh ice pack which was very much appreciated to keep our food cool. There‘s plenty to do and see with kids in the area as well. So we are very likely to come back.

Disliked: Nothing

Tawny Owl bell tent

Liked: The most beautiful location. We stayed in the Tawny Owl tent which was spacious (6 of us) clean and comfortable. The secret Brooke and fire pit was so delightful. The children loved the area to play in as we got the fire and bbq going. 3 hours on the tresure hunt was just right to get the kids tired for bed. Thank you to owners Karen and her little helper Oakley for showing us Kiara the majestic Queen llama. Everything about cledan valley was exceptional, the location, tents, amenities. Will be back again next year.

Goshawk bell tent

Liked: Everything!!! Karen and Russ were lovely and there son was a credit to them, so polite and helpful. Comfy beds, well equipped with everything we needed. Great facilities, shower was perfect after a day in the rain. Beautiful hamper with fresh produce. The sound of the river in the evening whilst sitting next to the camp fire, this place is just beautiful. We all had fun completing the treasure hunts and exploring the grounds. We will definitely be back :)
