What customers say

This campsite, while undergoing upgrades by new owners, offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with level pitches and good facilities, including an on-site pub serving meals. Positives include excellent value, convenient location for walking and town access, and accommodating hosts. Downsides noted are significant road and occasional train noise, and some find the toilet and shower facilities basic and in need of improvement.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, nice small campsite.

Disliked Little noisy but we knew it was a busy road near a train line so expected that.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Used the site for a last minute one night stop over and it was ideal for what we needed. It was basic but that was reflected in how cheap it was. £22 + £5 for electric.
Hardstanding was flat, easy distance to electric box. Yes it was close to the road but we didn't notice it too much, perhaps it was less busy than usual given we stayed on a bank holiday? Either way, we just got our heads down. The shower was basic but functional, the water was hot and you didn't have to press a button every ten seconds. The landlord and landlady were both very welcoming and helpful. It's just a short drive into Welshpool. All in all a great little inexpensive stop over.

Camping pod (adults only, no pets)

Liked Clean and cosy little glamping pod. It has a little oil heater which was such a luxury to have on a camping trip. The owners were friendly and the food at the pub were just what you need after a day's walking. Toilets and shower were very clean.

Local attractions

What horizons to set your sights on first? Well, for those of you who have historical sites high up on your holiday to-do list, there are a few places to get started and Powis Castle (10 minutes' drive) is one of the closest out of the lot. This huge Welsh castle has some splendid garden terraces and walks in the grounds are a real treat… For less walking and more chugging about, steam train trips go from the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway Preservation Company (10 minutes). To continue with your historic streak, The Wharf Powysland Museum (10 minutes) spills the beans on Montgomeryshire’s local history, while for ruins, Montgomery Castle (15 minutes) and the Mitchell's Fold Stone Circle (20 minutes) are some of your options. Of course, activities-wise, walking is particularly fine around this area, especially in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes) and Snowdonia National Park (40 minutes) but the kids in your group could cheer on the pig races or meet the alpacas at Park Hall’s adventure farm (25 minutes). Meanwhile, the adults might prefer to go for a laidback game of golf at the Brookland Hall Golf Club (10 minutes).
