What customers say
This campsite offers a friendly welcome and is praised for its excellent food and ales at the attached pub. Pitches are generally described as level and spacious. While some found the basic toilet and shower facilities dated, others noted improvements being made. Road and train noise are present, impacting light sleepers, though many found it manageable. The site is considered good value for money and a convenient stopover.

Comfortable and friendly campsite
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked I just had the loveliest stay at the Green Dragon, near Welshpool. I was driving from Devon up to North Wales and wanted to stop overnight somewhere easy and en route.
I turned up and immediately felt really welcomed by Collette and George. I was about to put up my tent and they offered me to stay in one of their glamping pods as it wasn't being used, no extra charge!
They thought, since I was setting off early the next morning that it would save me the faff of putting up a tent in the dimming light only to put it back down so soon.
I know this review is going on a bit but it's because I am trying to accurately describe just how kind and friendly they both are.
The stay was exactly what I needed, a comfortable and safe campsite, a pint of Butty Bach and great chat.
Thank you so much, I will be back again !

Great little pub stay
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Could park close to the tent, good location to shops, pub wasn't too busy but we stayed off peak, check in was easy, staff were friendly - good allrounder
Disliked Toilet and shower facilities were basic but we knew that and booked only one night so it didn't effect us

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch
Liked Very friendly landlady. Electric hook up and chemical waste disposal available. Reasonable price 😊 Clean toilets but very dated!
Disliked Not quite what we expected though, doesn't look anything like the photos! Obviously been closed for some time before reopening, lots of tlc needed, outside areas especially. Very noisy road all night!

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch
Liked Pub is excellent, food wonderful as (as the vegan of the couple) I was catered for easily.
Staff super friendly
Disliked Showers, washing up facilities and toilet are dated.
Right by Trainline and road so great for a top over but wouldn't spend more than a night there

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch
Liked Fect.l9cation for us returning to the midlands from North Wales. We pitched our camper we had adequate room, we didn't need hook up but it was available if needed. There was some noise early on from the road but it quietened down a bit later. The toilets were clean and I used the shower in the morning, it may not be a posh cubicle but it was clean and there was plenty of hot water so was perfect.
For what we paid I felt it was fine as not an expensive pitch. Obviously there was also the pub if you wanted a drink (not sure if they did food)
Disliked Nothing not to like.

Good base for cycling the area
Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch
Liked I based my van here for a couple of nights to cycle around the beautiful area. Colette & Jenny are welcoming and friendly and the pub is great with good beer. Campsite is more than adequate with basic facilities that worked for me.
Disliked From other feedback I knew the campsite was close to busy road - i slept with good quality earplugs that worked for me.

Very disappointed.
Camping pod (adults only, no pets)
Liked Unfortunately there was nothing that we can honestly say that we liked .We were booked in for 2 nights but only stayed for one.
Disliked Everything was scruffy . The showers and toilets were not clean.
This is advertised as ‘Glamping’which is a completely untrue statement. We would never stay again .

From the manager: Our toilets and showers are cleaned each morning and the pods are basic but have everything as advertised on the page.
