Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Best site we have stayed on! We were given a perfect pitch 20 feet away from the play area so we could relax by our tent and watch the children play. The facilities are immaculate fresh water at every pitch from the sites own spring water supply The owners couldn’t do enough for you and were so kind. The views are breathtaking

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Fantastic hosts can't do enough for you, really nice people. Facilities are spotless plenty of showers and toilets. WiFi ok but more for light usage.

Disliked: A lot of the pitches are on a slopes and can be a bit awkward and annoying. Probably ok for caravans but not so much for camping.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The touring park itself was nice, well kept and maintained. The toilet block and showers were clean and tidy. The owners were lovely and very helpful. Views where nice. The children's park was OK, the games room was OK but a little outdated and you had to cross the busy main road to get to it.

Disliked: The road! This is a busy main road that splits the site, we were pitched close to the road, and the noise was horrendous. Traffic was constant all night, lorries, motorbikes, and cars passing at 50mph. We were close to the shower block and toilets, which were good in one sense but not in another. The bins was right next to it and you had inconsiderate people throwing their bottles away at gone midnight waking us up and then people coming back from the pub talking loudly as they past our tent, again waking us up. The pitches are all uneven, we was on a slant and struggled to pitch our tent at first. We had to turn it to pitch it. We get that we are camping, but sleeping down a hill isn't the best.

From the manager: Thankyou for your comments. I think you were offered a pitch further away from the main road which was flatter but as you wanted to be near the facilities it was where you chose. We are aware the road can be an issue but obviously there is nothing we can do about that. You did choose to pitch very close to the toilet block unfortunately and this is not somewhere we would normally put a tent.

The site is beautiful, staff friendly, we will most certainly return

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: The location of this site is excellent, the facilities are spotless as is the campsite, the owners couldn't do enough for our 3 groups of families. The park for the children is perfect and the views are to die for. We were in the Paddock area of the site and it was lovely, often had the farm cows to visit. The older children made use of the games room and jacuzzi and had a great time. If we weren't off walking we were relaxing on site, never bored. The staff are wonderful, so friendly and approachable, and would pop in to say good morning.

Disliked: Not something I strictly disliked but something that made me slightly anxious was the games room and jacuzzi being on the other side of the road. Didn't pose a problem for us as the children in our groups range from 13-18 with one under 10, all of which are sensible.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Stayed as a group of 3 families (14 people and 3 dogs). Upon booking we requested to be pitched together, on arrival we found that we were given our own corner of the paddock field and were told to pitch our tents however we liked meaning we could set up all facing each other which was exactly what we wanted as it gave us privacy. The site itself is beautiful, extremely well maintained and very clean. The owners of the site were amazing, nothing was too much trouble, they even have extensions for the electric hook up that they are more than happy to bring to you if needed. The site is in beautiful surroundings with walks close by if you like hills we walked 2 out of 3. The kids enjoyed the on-site hot tub, although this is across the road by the static caravans, the road can be extremely busy in the daytime. They also have an honesty box for fresh free range eggs (£1.25 for half dozen at the time of our visit) can't beat a fresh egg to go with your bacon in the morning. We originally booked for 4 nights but ended up extending our stay to 6 nights.

Disliked: Didn't find anything to dislike, if I had to grumble the WiFi didn't reach the paddock but that just made the stay more enjoyable because no-one was glued to their phones all day

Local attractions

Back to the older ages… there’s many a trip far, far down memory lane around here, beginning with Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes’ drive). This National Trust castle and country house hark all the way back to medieval times. Fast forward a fair few years and there’s a Tudor centre, museums and the home of Charles Darwin in Shrewsbury (25 minutes) or the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (25 minutes) for an old-school steam train trip. For an open-air museum experience, the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Ironbridge (45 minutes) will send you through everything from gorges to Victorian towns and over the world’s first cast-iron bridge. But, how about mucking into farm life headfirst too? There are four museums including world war trenches, a Victorian school and an Iron Age Roundhouse to bring to life the past at Park Hall The Countryside Experience (35 minutes), as well as farm animal activities and play areas. Where else to look to? Well, there’s the walled cathedral city of Chester (an hour and 10 minutes) or the Welsh coast (an hour and a half), and Lake Vyrnwy (50 minutes) is a good shot for scenic shooting, mountain biking and horse riding sessions, or watersports.
