Beautiful setting, relaxed and quiet place, essentials to hand
Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)
Liked Lovely quiet camping spot. The pitches are well spread between the apple trees and the site is so pretty. The camp was full but it was so peaceful. There's a bar on site with apple juice made at the farm and lagers etc. We had a few and went back to our pitch for a bbq. Its set in just the right place, not far from shops and a 15/20 minute drive to Brecon town if you wanted to venture out.
There are toilets, showers, communal fridges, a pizza oven and charging outlets to use. Perfect mix between beautiful outdoor camping and having the essentials on hand to make your stay easy and comfortable.
The host was lovely and the whole place has a relaxed easy going vibe.
I was a bit worried about trekking from the car park to the pitch with all of our stuff but im glad we couldn't have cars in the orchard as it would have spoilt it. There are wheelbarrows for you to bring everything from the carpark over and its a minutes walk anyway. I cant wait to come back again.

Great pitches and facilities and excellent taproom on site
Non-electric grass tent pitch (medium)
Liked We loved the location of the camp site (15 minutes drive from Hay On Wye, and easy access to the rest of the Brecon Beacons). Each plot felt very secluded amongst the apple trees, with plenty of room for our 6 man tent, and a little table and chairs set up around the fire pit provided by the site.
I’d recommend camping whilst the taproom is open on Friday and Saturday. The ciders and beers on offer were incredible, and the charcuterie boards went down a treat. Shower toilet and wash up facilities were great, and while we did not use it, the covered area with the fridge, freezer, and charging ports was used by many of the other campers and seemed to be a good space.
The owners were very helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed our stay so much we stayed an additional night and will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely stay & would come back.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The solitude of the site. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The toilet facilities were clean & adequate for our needs. The free use of the barbeque & the firepits were great.
Disliked Clearer directions to the camp site & information about where to pitch for late arrivals would be useful. Access to food preparation area would also have been useful.

Peaceful and Convenient Stop After Hiking in the Brecon Beacons.
Non-electric grass tent pitch (medium)
Liked After a long and tiring day hiking in the Brecon Beacons, Lower Porthamel Camping was the perfect place to rest for the night. The site is peaceful, quiet, and felt very safe—just what I needed after a full day outdoors.
All the essential facilities were available, including clean shower rooms, and secure parking. One thing that really stood out was how clean the entire campsite was. Visitors are expected to manage their own rubbish, which encourages everyone to keep the space tidy and respectful—something I really appreciated.
Overall, it’s a well-maintained, no-fuss campsite that I’d definitely recommend to anyone exploring the area.
