  • No frills camping on a beautiful cider orchard
  • Situated at 1200 feet in the Cambrian Mountains
  • Home to Welsh Mountain Cider
Whether you’re looking for a family break from city life, longing for peaceful country evenings or just want to down some cider without the need to drive, the Accidental Arts and Ecology Centre may well be the place for you. At 1,200 feet up in the Cambrian Mountains and 10 minutes’ drive from Llanidloes in Powys, this rural pop-up campsite is very firmly a back-to-basics sort of place, giving you and the family (and any family dogs) the chance to enjoy a ‘proper’ camping holiday in clean Welsh air. What’s provided: neatly mown level grass pitches, drinkable water, composting toilets… and a spectacular view to rugged Welsh mountains. What’s not provided: electricity, hot water or showers. The camping pitches are set in Prospect Orchard, a museum orchard of over 450 varieties of apple and pear; if you’d like to know more about this, the site owners hold orchard tours and tastings of their fruits and cider. They also host musical events at the Welsh Mountain Cider tap room on-site.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: A lovely, spacious campsite overlooking the apple orchards, in great proximity to some beautiful walks in mid-Wales. Bill is a really friendly and hospitable host - he sells delicious locally-made cider and had some great local recommendations for us. Would happily return to this campsite.
