  • Spectacularly scenic riverside park in the Tanat Valley
  • Hikes directly from the site and Lake Bala 13 miles away
  • Two dog-friendly pubs within walking distance
Cor. Have a look at this site’s setting: parked alongside the Tanat river and surrounded by peaks in the spectacularly scenic Tanat Valley in mid Wales’ Berwyn Mountains, it’s right near the pretty village of Llangynog, where the Tanat and Eirth rivers meet. And there’s more: right on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, Henstent Park’s surrounds are not only scenic but they're also handily set for jaunts to the market towns of Welshpool and Oswestry, plus the Vyrnwy and Bala lakes. The smashing views are 360 here – at every turn you’ll see grass, trees and mountains – and as the site’s bordered by a river, there’s the option to have a go at fishing nearby. This is a smashing site for walkers too: several hiking trails lead directly from the site and it’s a three-hour trek (or a 20-minute drive) up to Wales’ highest waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr. A gated dog walk runs alongside the riverbank (and one dog-friendly pub is within easy walking distance). The bathroom block – with free hot showers – has been hailed by previous guests as immaculate and spotless.

What customers say

This is an immaculate, peaceful site in a stunning, tranquil location with beautiful views and riverside pitches. Guests consistently praise the exceptionally clean, modern facilities, including showers and toilets. The hosts, Roy and Caroline, are frequently mentioned as incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, offering great local knowledge. Dogs are welcome, with dedicated walking areas. While some mention a lack of mobile signal and patchy Wi-Fi, this is often offset by the site's many positive attributes. A nearby pub is a pleasant walk away.

Electric grass tent pitch (no pets)

Liked A lovely small campsite with clean toilets and showers. The owners were friendly and welcoming.
There are no cars allowed on the tent field but we were able to park right by the gate so we didn't have to carry our things very far.
The location is stunning and there are plenty of things to do in the area including lakes, waterfalls and walks.
We loved that each pitch had a picnic bench for us to use and also a BBQ/ cooking stand. We will definitely visit again.

Electric grass tent pitch (no pets)

Liked My first impression, in a word — amazing!

The facilities were brilliant, and the location was absolutely picturesque. From a practical point of view, being so close to Revolution Bike Park was ideal — just a stone’s throw away. There was also a great pub in town that we made good use of!

The site itself was fantastic. We had a couple of tents and a van on-site and couldn’t fault a thing — from the quality of service to the cleanliness and overall setup. Everything was spot on.

I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Thank you once again for a brilliant stay!

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Beautifully well kept caravan site next to a babbling brook, a few minutes walk to the local pub for meals or drinks. The pitches were well maintained with concrete runners on slate gravel and a sizeable area of astro turf next to the pitch, water and ehu to the pitch we were allocated. Fenced off dog walk and a large fenced secure field to let the dogs off the lead with tables and benches to sit on and watch the dogs. The showers and toilets were immaculate and the site wardens, Caroline and Roy, were extremely helpful and friendly with great local knowledge. Even went the extra mile by lending us a bayonet attachment for our new bbq.
The site is set amongst the most beautiful mountain scenery.
We will most definitely return soon.
Many thanks Roy and Caroline. See you soon.

Local attractions

Several walks lead directly from the site, and you can lace up your boots, pack up a picnic and hike the eight miles up to Wales’ highest waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr if you’re feeling particularly energised. Other outdoorsy pursuits within easy reach include horse riding, fishing and cycling… And as the site is right near Llangynog village, you’re also well placed for challenging and spectacularly scenic bike rides around the Milltir Cerrig mountain pass along the B4391, which runs between Llan Ffestiniog and Llanfyllin. If you fancy checking out the area’s lakes, the route over the mountain to Bala – 90 minutes’ bike ride or 25 minutes by car – is a highly scenic one, and at the end you’ll be greeted by lots of watery sports such as canoeing, windsurfing and whitewater rafting, or climbing, hiking, cycling, abseiling, archery and campcraft if you’d prefer to stay dry. Lake Vwrnwy is an easy half hour away.
