‘Wanderoo’ is a charmingly realised new conversion of an elegant, coach-built horse wagon, situated right in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, amidst some of the most varied and dramatic landscape to be found anywhere in the UK. Set within 17 acres of ‘Pentre Naboth‘, the owner’s low-key smallholding, Wanderoo overlooks from a stunning vantage point on the hillside. This is romantic, intimate, hideaway territory for couples or friends seeking peace, privacy and an opportunity for total immersion in off-the-scale wild scenery. An inspired use of space means you have an exceptional range of creature comforts. Interior walls feature tongue-and-groove cladding over sheep-wool insulation, painted in shades of warm green to blend with the outside, combined with wooden floorboards for a rustic and natural feel. Dual aspect, double-glazed patio doors to side and rear provide abundant natural light with views. A hand-built kitchen area, in reclaimed wood, incorporates a two-ring Calor gas hob. The overall effect is snug and cosy. Heating is provided by a wood burner if the weather’s inclement. When it’s fine you can open the doors wide to connect with the clean, fresh air and scents of the forest all around. Sleeping accommodation is taken care of with a king-size bed above the cab, with the further option of a sofa bed. Enjoy an al fresco breakfast lounging on the rear deck, from a hamper brought up to you on your first morning from the owner’s cottage. In the evening this becomes an ideal spot for enjoying a glass of wine (or two …) whilst witnessing spectacular sunsets illuminating the peaks of the Black Mountain ranges that surround you. The same attention to detail, quality and an unsparing commitment to luxury extends to your exclusive use of Wanderoo’s private shower and utility annexe, whilst nature’s calls are taken care of by a compost loo, housed in a structure which is just about as endearing as you could reasonably expect a ‘dunny’ on stilts to be.
