  • Amazing views to the Cambrian Mountains
  • Rural smallholding location
  • Close to Cors Caron Nature reserve + 25 minutes to beaches
If you’re out in search of that one place to switch off entirely, Cambrian View Farm is an excellent option. This site is part of a working smallholding with views of the Cambrian Mountains and it’s a five-minute drive away from the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, three raised bogs with several trails and animals like red kites, skylark and dragonflies. Thinking ‘beaches, please?’. Just look to Aberaeron, 25 minutes’ drive away, and Aberystwyth, half an hour’s drive away. There are fresh eggs available to collect on site for your brekkie or to boil up for any picnics you may have planned. With fresh air and stunning views to wake you up each morning, you should feel quite ready for all the action. Cambrian View Farm is all about quiet enjoyment, so it’s adults-only and pets are barred since the working smallholding has livestock on the site. There are no showers, but a discreet portable toilet is on hand. Whisk all rubbish home with you, as the site has a leave no trace philosophy (just as it should be). Should you feel like a foodie tour of sorts, takeaways, a pub and a couple of riverfront cafés can be tracked down in Tregaron five minutes’ drive away.

Local attractions

Eyeing up Aberaeron (25 minutes’ drive)? Along the Wales Coast Path and The Coastal Way, it might be tempting to stop by only briefly, but a day in Aberaeron is just as splendid. The Georgian harbour town is frequented by bottlenose dolphins. New Quay (40 minutes), further along Cardigan Bay, is the place to go for dolphin-spotting trips, by the way. In Aber, the pet name for pretty Aberystwyth (half an hour), there’s a 13th-century castle, arts centre and a library with the smallest book in the world. Add to that a Victorian promenade and the oldest pier in Wales, and you’ve got a jam-packed day right there (with ample rides on the cliff railway too, probably). If you feel like a little or a lot of walking, simply make your way to Hafod Estate (25 minutes), where there are trails through wooded valleys, parkland and a rocky gorge. Elan Valley (an hour and 10 minutes) has been used for various things over the years – mining, religious sites and the 1840s Rebecca Riots, but the dam scenery makes for a spectacular walk or two. Bike hire is available and there are mountain biking trails for those wanting a downhill tumble.
