  • Family run for over 40 years, two miles from the beach at New Quay
  • Fishing lake surrounded by acres of peaceful space
  • Pool, play areas, arcade, kids' club and clubhouse with two bars
Want to pitch up in splendid New Quay on the Ceredigion coast, former home of Dylan Thomas and 20 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay, known for its bottlenose dolphins? Pitch up at Pencnwc Holiday Park. It’s less than two miles from New Quay’s safe beaches and harbour walls, five miles from the sands at Ceredigion and 20 from the university town of Aberystwyth; Cardigan is the same distance to the south. The site has been family-run for over 40 years, so there's plenty to do for guests of all inclinations. Let the kids take their pick from two on-site play areas, a big amusement arcade, splashing around in the heated indoor pool with adjacent paddling pool, or getting stuck into art, jewellery, sport and games at the free kids’ club. The entertainment (available every day through the school holidays and every weekend for the rest of the year) runs into the evenings in Merlin’s Den, one of the two bars in the clubhouse, and is suitable for all sizes. Seeking grownup time? Head to the second pub, Smugglers Bar, for a coffee, newspaper or catching up with what’s happening in the world of sport on the bar’s numerous TVs. The bar also serves meals (including breakfasts and lunches), and there's a tempting range of street food to take away – think pizzas, loaded fries and smashed burgers. You may like to take your munchies to the on-site fishing lake, where acres of space abound for quiet contemplation (and no one nicking your chips). On-site amenities include loo and shower blocks with hot water, a modern launderette and a washing-up area all kept in spankingly good order among the flowers, shrubbery and well-maintained grounds. There’s no food shop on site, but there are two at the nearby village of Cross Inn, a few minutes’ walk away.

What customers say

This is a beautifully maintained, clean, and friendly campsite offering excellent facilities, including a popular swimming pool and a well-regarded restaurant. Visitors frequently praise the spacious pitches, helpful staff, and the convenient shuttle bus to New Quay. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some minor points were raised regarding bin fullness, occasional wasps, and the WiFi availability being limited to the clubhouse. Manager replies indicate a proactive approach to addressing guest feedback.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Nice big pitches and good amenities Spotless clean
Reasonable prices
Good food

Disliked 10am leaving time, I think 11am would be better on touring pitches, as it gives you more time to get awning etc packed away. 10am with a little one doesn't give you much time

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Easy to use waste points
Toilets clean and tidy.
Overall site was imaculate and well maintained.
Club house had plenty on and good value.
Nice outside seating area.

Disliked Too many rules, rule signs and cctv knocking around, felt a bit watched. I know its due to safety and its a big site with alot of money spent but can haveva negative effect.
Caravaners parked cars infront on thier vans, I feel for the safety of others these should be left in carpark as always coming and going and some cars not leaving enough room to get out.
The pitches we felt were too close to each other maybe as we had a corner plot it felt that way. Next door had thier van parked accoss the front of thier caravan and the kids were just dumping thier bikes infront of ours so felt that we had to move further back to give them space and prevent damage to our van.
No cash machine on site or ability to get cash back to join in on bingo or ammusments, but thats just being picky.

It depends what you want and like when camping, but for a easy hastle free trip this is it, you dont really need to leave site but thats not us we like to explore so we walked twice into New Quay which was very easy as all down hill down a country lane. Pub and shop just outside the site.
Reason why I said I would not return is purely due to location and felt the site was mainly for regulars.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Wow what an amazing site...and fabulous friendly staff... unfortunately we had a miss hap with the awning so unfortunately we wasn't able to stay in our tourer...the staff went above and beyond to save out holiday by allocating us a static caravan for the week...we were able to keep our own van in their site and still enjoy our holiday...we had 3 very happy children. The entertainment was amazing... hilarious team, site was immaculately clean, amenities were spot on...will definitely be returning in the future

Disliked There is nothing to dislike... everything was amazing

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We liked everything about Pencnwc, it is a beautiful camp, set in lovely grounds, plenty of things to do on site for adults and children. It has a spotless shower block and plenty of lovely walks with two lovely lakes.

Disliked Only wifi in the clubhouse, was a little frustrating.

Local attractions

The traditional fishing village of New Quay, two miles away, is, of course, a fine place for fishing – such boat trips bob out from the harbour here, as do dolphin-spotting outings. There's a fine population of the marine mammals nearby but for a cast-iron guarantee of wildlife sightings you may like to drop in at the town's Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre. The market town of Cardigan (a hub for active pursuits) and the university town of Aberystwyth are both 20 miles away. Top local beaches are at Aberaeron (15 minutes' drive), and Llangrannog (20 minutes).
