  • Cardigan Bay farm park a mile from Cardigan town
  • A 15-minute drive from Mwnt, Aberporth and the Welsh Wildlife Centre
  • Showers, toilets and chemical disposal; fresh farm eggs for sale
It's but a mile to Cardigan from this simple but well-equipped little site close to the Ceridigion coast. And a stay here will have you within easy reach of spectacular west Wales beaches like Mwnt and Poppit Sands, wildlife at the Welsh Wildlife Centre and around the coast, and days out in all directions to keep you entertained for many a day. This pretty little place is Treforgan Farm, a top spot to use as a base for Cardigan, Ceredigion and west Wales holidays, with coast, countryside, urban and active options within easy reach. Or just stroll in the surroundings instead: the remnants of the mighty Llangoedmor woodland still exist nearby and are now a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a wildlife haven. The farm aims to offer simple pitches with excellent amenities: it has showers and toilets, a launderette, a washing-up area and chemical disposal. Swings are on site for kids and there's loads of room to run about. Fresh eggs are available for sale.

Local attractions

The farm is a mile east of the famed old Ceredigion coastal town of Cardigan, in splendid setting home to spectacular sights like Cardigan Castle, St Dogmael's Abbey, and the Guildhall, now home to Cardigan's market. Kayaking is available in the River Teifi from Cardigan when tides and weather permit: arrange it at the activity centre next to the old bridge, or ask in the town tourist office. More watery – as well as sandy – adventures – can be had at the beaches all around the Cardigan coastline and Cardigan Bay: try Mwnt or Aberporth, each 15 minutes' drive from the farm; Newquay and Aberaeron, about 35 minutes to the east, and Newport and Fishguard, 25 and 35 minutes west. The lively seaside resort of Aberystwyth is just over an hour away. This is a top spot for wildlife watching too, with rare seabirds all around the coast and Atlantic grey seals as well as bottlenose dolphins spottable in Cardigan Bay. The Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park (15 minutes) is the place to see the lot, as well as the park's menagerie of goats, Shetland ponies, Welsh mountain ponies, rabbits and Kunekune pigs. The Welsh Wildlife Centre is also 15 minutes away.
