  • Family-run holiday park five minutes' walk from Borth beach
  • A 15-minute drive to Aberystwyth; red kite feeding 20 minutes away
  • Peaceful family-friendly accommodation with play area on site
Take it easy on the west Wales coast – the accommodation at Northfield Holiday Park is well equipped and all ready for guests to move into. Bathrooms, kitchen facilities, bed linen and plenty of other handy amenities are provided, so it should be nice and simple to settle in and get started on your downtime. This Ceredigion holiday park is a family-run place with a quiet family-friendly atmosphere and plenty for the kids to do – there’s a play area and a collection of useful bits and pieces to borrow, including puzzles, games, books and buckets and spades. And where will you take those buckets and spades? Well, to the beach, of course – Borth’s sandy stretch is only a few minutes’ walk away, with plenty of space for sandcastle building, swimming, walks, picnics and the like. Also within walking distance are shops, pubs, places to eat and attractions including a cinema, a museum and a bar with live entertainment. Travelling further afield? There are plenty of places to visit within a short drive, but you don’t have to use the car if you don't want to. The Wales Coast Path is handily nearby for seaside strolls, there’s a railway station in Borth (for trips to Aberystwyth or Machynlleth) and a bus stop opposite the park has handy local services. Adding to the easy life here is a good collection of guest facilities including a launderette, a wifi connection and a recycling area to help you gain some eco points.

Local attractions

Borth is your closest beach, and it's a fine one indeed with three miles of sand and pebbles, plus an ancient petrified forest that sometimes appears at low tide. There are plenty more great spots along the coast though, including the wildlife-filled dunes of Ynyslas National Nature Reserve (10 minutes' drive), the pretty harbour of Aberaeron (40 minutes) and New Quay (50 minutes), a hotspot for dolphin-spotting boat trips. Aberystwyth (15 minutes) is another nice seaside spot, with the cliff railway, National Library of Wales, a castle and a camera obscura as well as the beach. From here you can board the Vale of Rheidol Railway for a trip to Devil’s Bridge waterfalls (otherwise half an hour’s drive). For other outings, take a look at places like Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre (20 minutes), where you can see red kites being fed daily, and The Magic of Life Butterfly House (20 minutes), home to hundreds of colourful insects along with frogs and other beasts. The underground tours at Silver Mountain Experience (25 minutes) are often popular as well.
