Liked: Nothing . Hard to find . No signage indicating it is a campsite so you wil drive past it repeatedly pulling out your hair .
Host was insistent that I booked a different date which was tiring and seemed academic as his field just had sheep in it .
Campsite is literally an uneven field full of sheep dung . No fire pits as advertised . Host didn’t bother to tell us where any facilities were . Just told me showers are £1 each 3 times.
Had said showering the morning after waiting for him in yard being barked at by several little pooches .
Facility was downstairs Bathroom in house .. run down and untidy and in use by host . Shower head held in on with duct tape and sign don’t touch . Duh .
Asked for drinking water and host was reluctant , told me he had to go in the house to get it .returned with yellow water.
C’mon !
Host seemed over busy and this “ wild campsite “ fails on all levels .

From the manager: First off I found this person rude and disrespectful. he in fact arrived a week early as was lucky I let him in - wish now I had refused. You should check your dates. He also arrived 2 hours later than he had estimated despite being sent a welcome pack and full instructions including a what 3 words ref to find us as others have since very easily. He refused for me to explain anything to him. Had he not done so he would have known where the shower room and toilet facilities are (which we are not obliged to provide but choose to), the fact that we provide bottled drinking water and that our well water is pure, tested and I can assure you is far better than anything that comes from a mains system. As for over busy......I do not know who he thinks he is but I can assure you that he knows nothing about our lifestyle or how a working farm operates. As for comments on our decor - I am in the process of a re-build but again I am not expecting to justify myself to him or anyone else. Our facilities are always clean and tidy and for the record the shower head works - I use it every day!! As for land - uneven etc - the paddock is flat and many vehicles have parked successfully on it including a 50 ton converted army truck with no problems whatsoever. We are a working farm says so in the pack and on the web page - I'd be very surprised if he's ever seen one before let alone stayed on one. I do not have to explain myself to him or other guests for that matter. He clearly went somewhere else to everyone since as they have had the opposite experience.
I find his comments rude, bordering offensive, unjustified and not factual. He is very lucky I don't decide to take this up and certainly will be recommending to other local sites to keep an eye out. Good riddance !!!! I am not normally this vocal but this is totally unacceptable.
I have to tell you that going forward if I suspect anyone else comes to us with this kind of 'I want everything for nothing entitlement' attitude they will be turned away. We are good value for money in a stunning location with facilities that are beyond what wild camping affords. Just read our other reviews. Feel very disappointed.

Liked: Quiet, lovely sunset, lots of sheep around, basic wild camping
Disliked: Not easy to find as it's a farm field and no signs that we saw suggested camping.
Initial welcome was a bit flustered (though all OK after that).

Liked: Rural campsite with everything you need at your disposal. Family wanted to stay for longer than we booked. 2 year old had an amazing time looking at the animals and has fallen in love with Tilly (the hand reared sheep) owners are really friendly with a good sense of humour. Wonderful family memories made and would definitely stay again. Thank you.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your comments and that means a lot to us. We try very hard to please everyone and provide a taste of farm life. It was a pleasure to have met you and so pleased that the family enjoyed their experience. We are looking forward to seeing you again in the near future. Thank you.
A wild experience.

Liked: Such a wonderful wild campsite! We had a fabulous stay, meeting Mark on arrival, being greeted by a rather rambunctious cockerel! Mark was incredibly welcoming, explained how the site worked, we pitched our tent and awaited Storm Lillian. This is a back to basics campsite, very definitely wild camping, exactly what we were looking for. Very quiet, and the children loved meeting and talking to all the animals. We loved our stay there (despite the delightful weather) and will definitely be making another trip. Thank you. 😊
Disliked: The composting toilet was not the best toilet we’ve ever used, although the view from the door was great.

Liked: The peace and quiet.
Disliked: Rundown she'd with a bucket for a toilet, not clean at all.
Shower in the main house which is quite a walk along the main road and at £1.50 for 5 mins is very steap and a Cockerel that attacks you on the way out.No running water, cleaning facilities.

From the manager: Really sorry that this type of stay was not for you. However I would suggest that for future reference please read the camp site description carefully before booking. We do not advertise the fact that we provide cleaning facilities or running water. We do however provide guests with free bottled water. As for animals running free - we are a working farm which is part of the attraction and make guest aware of that. Feedback is however important to us so thank you for that.

From the manager: Really lovely to have met you both. Glad that you have enjoyed your stay. We do unfortunately need to charge for showers, as most do, as we have limited supply on a well. We do look forward to seeing you again soon.
