  • Glamping on a historic farm five minutes' drive from Aberporth beach
  • 10 minutes' drive from boat trips and activities in Cardigan
  • Private hot tubs, picnic tables and plenty of space for campfires
Slow the pace of life for a bit with a stay at Sloeberry Farm… this west Wales site is on the grounds of Cryngae Mawr, a former farm and mill, and has all the space, shelter and stunning views you’ll want for a rural escape. Being a glamping site, all the basics are already sorted for you – you’ll need to bring your food along, of course (stop by the supermarket as you come through Aberteifi, aka Cardigan, 10 minutes away, to arrive laden with goodies) but there’s no need to lug firewood as you can pick that up here. Beds, bathrooms and kitchen kit are all ready and waiting too, so that means you can get on with the important business of holidaying. It’s highly possible that you’ll choose to spend a fair chunk of your break pottering around on site, taking in the rural views and scoping out the various nooks and crannies for picnic-spot potential. Campfires and barbecues are not just allowed but positively encouraged, as are outdoor feasts on the picnic tables, snoozes in the deckchairs and long sessions bubbling away in the private wood-fired hot tubs. Do consider mustering the energy to do a bit of local exploration, though: Aberporth, five minutes away, has just one of the 10 (ten!) fab beaches in the local area, and you can also fill days with castle visits, coast path walks, dolphin spotting and all sorts of outdoorsy antics. Can’t face so much decision making? The folk on site are happy to offer up top tips on outings, walks and pubs nearby.

Local attractions

Where else would one start in Cardigan Bay than at the coast? Make a beeline for the beach in Aberporth (five minutes’ drive) for family-friendly days of sand and sea, or pick from one of the other beaches on the lengthy list of possibilities: Mwnt, Poppit Sands, Llangrannog and Tresaith are among those within a 20-minute drive. If you’re not a sitting on the beach sort, you’re only a short way from strolls on the coast path, or you can head down to Cardigan (10 minutes) for boat trips to spot the dolphins and porpoises that generally loiter in these waters. An activity centre in town can sort adventurous types with days of coasteering, sea kayaking and surf lessons, and there’s canoeing 20 minutes away on the Teifi River gorge. Staying dry (well, unless it rains…), go ruins hunting at Cilgerran Castle (15 minutes), visit the elegant villa and farm animals at Llanerchaeron estate (half an hour), or get set to encounter all sorts of beasties large and small at the Welsh Wildlife Centre (20 minutes).

Liked The open space

Disliked The fact they said dog friendly but had to have the dog tied up the hole holiday and as we had young children it would have been better if it was a fenced of area for us

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sloeberry Farm is a dog friendly site, but dogs do need to be kept on a lead. This is clearly communicated prior to booking on the Pitchup, in all reservation messages and on signage across the farm

Dog friendly does not mean your dog was free to disturb other guests, chase the wildlife and run around the farm off of the lead.

We do not advertise that the farm has fenced in spaces for your dog, we suggest if this is important for your group you check this is offered prior to making a booking, rather than assuming this will be provided and becoming irritated when it isn’t.

We know that you struggled to understand this but having to be reminded to keep your dog under control does not constitute poor customer service, cleanliness etc
