  • Handcrafted luxury retreats at an adults-only Perthshire glamping site
  • Stirling Castle and Gleneagles Golf Course 20 minutes’ drive
  • Unusual units in landscaped gardens; farm animals and wildlife on site
The gorgeous glamping accommodation at Craighead Howfs is right up there on the scoreboard when it comes to luxurious Scottish hideaways. Mini-houses crafted from stone and wood, they each have highly individual interiors with unusual features including roll-top baths, hand-crafted beds, bespoke kitchens and woodfired hot tubs. Set 15 minutes’ drive from Dunblane, the units are surrounded by lavishly landscaped country gardens, a lochan and woodland, with wonderful views over the hills of Perthshire, colourful sunsets to admire on clear evenings and total privacy. You will only share your space with wildlife – red kites are common sightings – plus the owners’ goats, Highland cows and donkeys, and the free-range hens who will provide you with your breakfast – their eggs can be found in the honesty box at the bottom of the lane. After an action-filled day on Trossachs hiking trails or gallery-hopping in Glasgow (both around 45 minutes by car), return to your cosy retreat, spark up the barbecue and sit under the stars – possibly with a dram or two of fine single malt whisky in hand. Alternatively, if you like the sound of an upscale dinner out, Cromlix (five minutes, of Andy Murray fame) and Gleneagles (20 minutes) hotels both have fine-dining restaurants.
