  • Heated wooden cabins in the orchard of a family-run Perthshire farm
  • A 10-minute drive to either Perth or Dunkeld
  • Affordable outdoor accommodation, with easy access from the A9
Fancy the idea of a Scottish camping break but unsure about the weather? Take a look at the wooden cabins at Newmill Farm Wigwams – they’ll give you a good taste of the outdoor lifestyle but with the added comfort of knowing you’ll have solid walls between you and the elements. These heated wooden cabins are in the orchard area of a family-run working farm in the Perthshire countryside, about four miles north of Perth and with easy access from the A9. They’ve been designed to replicate something of the camping experience and keep things affordable rather than offering a fancy glamping experience. That means you’ll have access to mattresses, a heater, a mini fridge and a kettle in your cabin but you’ll need to bring your own bedding, bed linen and cutlery. Shared facilities on site include a toilet/shower block and a communal kitchen/utility area. There’s plenty of space around for kids to play (although please do remember this is a working farm so you’ll need to keep an eye on them) and barbecues and campfires are permitted – they are essential parts of the camping experience, after all. This location, so close to the main road and Perth, makes a handy stopover for long journeys north or south – and it’s also a great base for a longer holiday spent exploring the area, doing lots of outdoor activities or visiting Perth’s cultural attractions.

Wigwam

Liked clean hut with a fridge and a kettle which is very nice! beautiful field with several huts. two clean bathrooms in the stable and a fully equipped kitchen in the canopy. received a very friendly welcome from the farmer who gave us a nice tour of the site. small water stream and various play equipment were fun for our daughter.

Disliked The toilets are in the same room as the shower. May take some time to use the toilet when its fully booked.

A great little site with easy access from the A9.

Wigwam

Liked Lovely small site. Ease of access from the A9. Basic, but clean and well appointed - just what we needed. Just are nicely spaced out. Toilets and shower clean and spacious. Good parking very close to accommodation. I particularly appreciated the two covered barn/eating areas for a little shelter outside. Would definitely consider visiting again.

Everything about it, pod was brilliant, comfortable, clean, good size. So…

Wigwam

Liked Lovely space for kids to play, really good facilities and confy beds. Dog friendly too

Disliked There was only one, very spacious, toilet. But the site is quite small only 8 or 10 pods so not a problem.
