Shepherd's hut

  • Dog-friendly bespoke shepherd’s huts with views of the Ochil Hills
  • On a working farm 25 minutes' drive from Gleneagles; Perth 30 minutes
  • Enclosed garden with gas barbecue and raised terrace for each hut
Bag a shepherd’s hut at Greenhill Farm Glamping and you’ll get to wake up to views of the stunning Ochil Hills in Perthshire. Each dog-friendly bespoke hut sits in a totally secluded area of a working farm and has a private enclosed garden with a raised decking area set up with outdoor seating and utensils. They also have a private cooking hut with a gas barbecue – a lovely spot to prep meals while the sun sets. You don’t need to worry about nosy neighbours here, as there's only the quietly grazing sheep and cattle, plus wildlife like buzzards, hares, badgers, foxes and a family of peacocks. The farm is surrounded by hill walks and cycling routes, and is a 10-minute drive from Dunning and 35 minutes from Muckhart, two villages with country pubs. Due to their positions high on the hills, the shepherd's huts don't have running water or electricity, but the team provides plenty of bottled water, LED lights and a private flushing chemical toilet. Alternatively, take a five-minute walk down the hill to the communal flushing toilet, hot shower and phone charging points in the main farmyard. What about inside the huts? The interiors are lovely, with a woodburning stove (including a basket of logs and firelighters), good insulation and comfortable beds. The pull-down breakfast bar has complimentary coffee, tea and snacks, and there are plenty of other thoughtful touches too, from towels to board games and a Bluetooth radio. Greenhill Farm Glamping has easy on-site parking, making it straightforward for guests to reach the popular Gleneagles golf course, 25 minutes' drive away, and local distilleries. or make day trips to Perth and Stirling.

Badgers 2 bedroom shepherd's hut (four person)

Liked So many lovely homely touches that made our stay wonderful. Beautiful window overlooking the glen you can enjoy from bed! Super insulated so was really toasty and warm till morning. Super secluded and private from farm and other hut. Doggy was welcome which is always a plus - and to know it was another ‘sausage’ family was so fun! Also the farm shop/honesty shop had amaaazing produce including delicious burgers that we ate at the patio furniture outside the hut. Toilet hut just to the back of the shepherds hut was also so lovely and like a little Shreky from the outside - in the best way. Loads of hygiene items in the toilet - personal and to clean up after anything. Also spotted our first red squirrel in about 20 years!

Disliked If you’re a TikTok girlie then yes you’ll be cut off as no data in the glen - but worth the time out to recalibrate.
