Liked: Absolutely everything was great! The staff are friendly and very helpful... always happy to serve you with a smile. I come to lossiemouth as I love it there, it has the best beach, with caves to sit and watch the sunset.... stunning. I like to walk to lossiemouth along the beach which takes around 40mins. The lighthouse tour is definitely worth a visit too. We have a dog and this place is perfect for him too. We will always be back!!

Disliked: Not a thing do I dislike

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Location, right on beautiful west beach. Approx.1.5 mile walk to Lossiemouth town.

Disliked: Touring pitch area looks very neglected and grass is very sparse. Tents, vans, caravans all mixed in together and no clear demarcation between pitches. Felt crowded even though it wasn’t full when we stayed. Toilet/shower/dishwashing/waste amenities block is an absolute disgrace. Dirty, untidy and lots of broken door locks, grubby floors, toilet brushes covered in faeces and sitting in the dirty water, barely warm showers, mouldy ceilings. Overflowing refuse and recycling bins. It’s a fairly large site and lighting is poor after dark. There is no security codes to access toilet blocks, they’re open 24/7, so not exclusive to touring customers. I didn’t feel that safe during the later, dark hours.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Swimming pool

Disliked: Toilet doors and hairdryers were broken. Ladies washroom not well maintained or clean. Unable to take dogs into the bar. Outdoor seating area no good as weather was bad. Could have had dog designated area in the bar even if just at quiet times as only 4 people in there when we wanted to use it. Fish and chip shop closed so needed to self cater so bought some eggs! Only had a 2 day use by date so just as well I needed them straight away.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: The campsite is perfect for families and children as it has an indoor pool, playground, arcade, little shop, fish and chip chop and bar. The side was clean outside. Toilets could behave been cleaned more often but overall all clean enough. Showers were hot. Easy beach access and reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Disliked: Only minus is, that you hear the noises from the RAF base, but that should be common sense when booking your stay. If you are looking for a quiet side, this might not be your cup of tea, as it’s a rather big busy side

Local attractions

The harbour and fishing town of Lossiemouth is a few miles from Silver Sands Holiday Park and has a good range of shops and restaurants as well as a fisheries museum, a small theatre/gig venue and the 18 holes of Moray Golf Club, regarded by those in the know as one of Scotland's finest courses. If you want to dig into Scotland's rich history, Balvenie Castle, one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland, is a short drive away, as is Inverness Castle, in the centre of the town overlooking the River Ness. Hang around in town after a trip to the castle for more historic buildings like Inverness Cathedral and the Old High Church. It's also not far to the shops, restaurants, museums, galleries and history of Aberdeen: recommended are the Aberdeen Art Gallery, Aberdeen Maritime Museum, live music in Belmont Street, Provost Ross' House and, if you're around in summer, dropping into some shows at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
