What customers say

This campsite boasts a stunning location with beautiful views of Loch Nevis and the surrounding mountains, right on a beach. Guests appreciate the flat pitches, ample space, and free firewood. Facilities are basic but functional, with praise for the eco-toilet. Midges are present due to the waterside setting. Some visitors suggest improved waste disposal and additional water taps would be beneficial.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great location and view of Loch Nevis. Ground is flat, so perfect for pitching tents. Plenty of space with benches and other seating.

Disliked Not much to dislike, it’s basic but that is what it was advertised as. There was a lot of midge as you’re by the water and there was no wind, but that is to be expected.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful scenery, right on the beach, free fire wood and a decent eco toilet!

Disliked Only complaint is no waste facilities, obviously a lot of people staying here may have collected rubbish so at least a recycling bin or something would be helpful

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Setting is stunning, wonderful view out to Rhum, and behind into the mountains, beautiful beach, peaceful and chilled.

Disliked Facilities are basic, as expected and that’s fine, but would be nice to perhaps have more than one tap - one near the loo as well as the one by the washing up area.

Local attractions

The Knoydart Peninsula is good news for walkers and climbers, with a range of mountains and forest trails to roam. The Knoydart Foundation Ranger Service sells guides to local walks for different abilities, and holds guided walks every Tuesday from April to October. If you’d rather explore by car, the rangers can also take you on four-wheel drive tours of the glens. For cyclists, Inverie (20 minutes’ walk) has its own mountain-bike track with moderate and expert options. Anglers, listen up too. Free fishing is available in Glaschoille Loch (also 20 minutes), but you must buy a permit for fishing in Loch Bhraomisaig (40 minutes), Loch an Dubh Lochan (an hour) and Inverie River (half an hour). Kayakers take to the water in Loch Nevis (10 minutes), a sheltered sea loch also popular for swimming and sailing. Inland, Knoydart is a wildlife haven. As a National Scenic Area with wild grasslands and peat bogs, it’s home to white-tailed and golden eagles, tawny owls, otters, pine martens, badgers, pipistrelle bats and deer. Turn to the sea for whale-watching cruises from Inverie, and keep your eyes open at all times to (hopefully) spot minke whales, porpoises, dolphins and seals.
