  • Luxurious glamping pods with Highland views at Daviot near Inverness
  • A 15-minute drive to Inverness; 25 minutes to Loch Ness
  • Barbecue hut, fully equipped kitchens, showers, TVs, private decking
A huge Highland welcome awaits you at the oh-so-very gorgeous Daviot Luxury Pods, a high-end glamping spot with some of the best views across hills and glens and yet only 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Inverness. Owners Christine and Hughie have created something exceptional here: stylishly kitted-out wooden pods with pretty much all of the comforts of home. Each well-insulated pod will keep you cosy whatever the weather is doing outside. The layout comprises a double bed, separate bathroom with shower, a living area with TV and fold-down double sofa, and a dining table for family feasts. In the kitchenette, all is provided to whip up those feasts, from a hob to microwave, toaster and kettle, plus a fridge to keep all your goodies chilled. Premium-quality towels and bedding are provided, along with a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate and milk pods. Antibacterial wipes and cleaning products are on hand too to keep the place all neat and shipshape. There’s a decking area outside every unit, with cracking views and a private firepit and barbecue, while pride of place on the site goes to the hand-crafted indoor barbecue hut, with a central firepit and wooden seating so everyone can enjoy the Highland scenery in comfort, whether you’re visiting as the snow covers the countryside or on long summer days.

Local attractions

Difficult it may be to leave this luxurious spot, but it’s worth it to head to Loch Ness for a wild swim at Dores (25 minutes’ drive) or to drive the scenic route along the loch to Fort Augustus (50 minutes). There you can watch boats toiling up the lock flight into the Caledonian Canal or hop on a cruise for a tour of the loch and (perhaps) a sighting of Nessie. To learn about the history of the Highland region, walk around the sombre Culloden Battlefield (15 minutes), have a peek at ancient Cawdor Castle and Gardens (20 minutes), or tour waterside Urquhart Castle (40 minutes) before ending the day with a potter in Inverness Botanic Gardens (20 minutes). In winter, Aviemore (half an hour) is the local hotspot for skiing, while you can climb, hike and cycle in the Cairngorms National Park (half an hour) any time of year. Keep active kids occupied with raft rides at Landmark Forest Adventure Park (25 minutes) and sort any rainy days with a workout on the indoor climbing wall at Inverness Leisure (20 minutes).

Bramble camping pod

Liked: A really warm welcome from Christine, who showed me around, and gave information to contact her if needed. A beautifully laid out pod, with everything needed. Best night's sleep in a long time in a really comfortable double bed, and total darkness. Amazing rain fall shower, and underfloor heating if needed. The views from the decking outside were lovely, watching the mist burn off the valley early morning, and the hills turn pink and red with a glass of wine as the dark descended. Easy to find, but secluded in a quiet haven. I will definitely be back.

Disliked: Nothing.
