Eco-pods in a fab spot for cycling
Spacious camping pitches

  • Small, friendly site in woodlands just outside Leven with sea views
  • A half-hour drive from St Andrews and an hour from Edinburgh
  • Café and bike hire on site; 400m from the beach and coast path
Woodland walks, seaside strolls, golfing days, space to cycle… ooh, there’s a whole bundle of favourite Fife fresh-air activities in the area just around Silverburn Park Campsite. This is a particularly prime spot for those seeking outdoorsy days: it’s within the tree-filled Silverburn Park (putting those woodland walks right on your doorstep) and a mere 400 metres from the Fife Coastal Path and the sands of Leven beach. Golfing types have a pick of three (yep, three) courses within a five-minute drive, while those who fancy a spot of cycling can hire bikes on site for easy pedalling. Fuelling up for all such antics is pretty straightforward at this friendly little site – just stop by at the café next to reception for hot drinks, home baking and rolls or toasties to take away. Or perhaps you might like to start up a campfire or a barbecue for the evening? Any of the above would be a fine accompaniment to some time spent taking in the views over the Firth of Forth… Reckon such a fine location means you’ll need to travel for miles to find any form of civilisation? Not at all – the supermarkets, restaurants and pubs of Leven are just over a mile away, and jaunts further afield are pretty easy given that the A915 passes the front of the main park. And as if all this wasn’t enough, you may also like to know that this place is owned by a local charity that helps people with mental health problems into work – so you’ll be doing your bit simply by coming along to stay.

What customers say

This is a beautiful and peaceful seaside and forest location, with lovely walks to the beach and town. Guests praise the clean pods, friendly staff, and special features like the walled garden and cafe. While generally well-maintained, some guests experienced issues with toilet and shower cleanliness due to staffing problems, which management has addressed. Building work on a flax mill may cause temporary disruption.

Electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked The location is beautiful, the park, the beach and access to town all fantastic. Staff very kind, washrooms kept clean.

Disliked Not really a dislike but it would be good to have a wash block nearer the vans and to suggest that people leave outdoor shoes at entrance to keep showers clean.
The ethos of the park is great and we were pleased to support the community development even though workmen arriving at 7 am was a bit disruptive.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Wonderful team. Very responsive and friendly. Beautiful, peaceful seaside and forested location. The birdsong is pure zen! The Cottage Window and the Walled garden are highlights too. Tge scones are he’s only! Overall, many more positives versus the (very) few niggles, and somewhere I look forward to returning.

Disliked Need a bigger communal fire pit or more of them if the campsite is full up. It was not feasible for everyone to cook like that. Maybe a few more mobile bbq tables, strategically placed near the fire hydrant for more space. Loo paper was scarce. Noisy big group kept usu up way past quiet hours and this doesn’t seem to be possible to report or monitored by cam manager.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely site with sea view, walled garden and cafe window. Once bike hire up and running will be great for trips along the coastal path.

Disliked Tent pitches all alongside each other, doesn’t give you much space. Noisy - kids running around the tents till gone 11pm

Electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked Small site with only 4 pitches for small campervans with plenty of space. There's a separate grass area for tents along with a few pods. Really beautiful walled garden just next to the site.

Disliked The toilets & showers are on the tent field which is separated from the campervan area by a building site for the renovation of the flax mill. On our 3 night stay the toilets & showers weren't attended to on the first 2 days - luckily there weren't many people on site so they weren't too bad. The building works are substantial and look like they are going to go on for some months.

From the manager: Hi Ian, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, it's much appreciated. My sincerest apologies about the toilets & showers, unfortunately we had some staffing issues due to illness. We have since had an internal review and have taken actions to make sure a situaton like that doesn't occur again.

Electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked Nice view

Disliked Dirty toilet and shower facilities which weren’t cleaned whilst we were there. We have learnt several new words since the builders arrived on the building site next to us at 6.30am each morning!

From the manager: Hi Linda. I'd like to apologise once more about the the cleanlieness of the campsite showers and toilets. As we discussed in person, I was also very unhappy about that. It turns out we had staff issues in my absense, the member of staff who should have been looking after the campsite had to work in the cafe instead. We have had a meeting and altered staffing rotas so this won't be an issue again. I've emailed you directly too.

Electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked Excellent site, stayed for 1 night with campervan, they send you an email with a very handy campsite guide (including excellent info for eateries, etc close by) to read beforehand, showers are hot and powerful and easy to use, 15 min walk to Leven, either across the golf course and on to the Fife Coastal Path or via a path from campsite that takes you into the town via Scoonie Golf Club. Didn't get a chance to use their Cottage Window Cafe, looked excellent and plenty people using it. Lovely walled garden to sit in and walk through. There were plenty of tent users on the evening I was there with families enjoying the facilities, pit fires, etc. The campsite is run as a not for profit venture helping people into sustainable employment and good luck with your flax mill project.

Local attractions

You could certainly spend a large chunk of time here just in the vicinity of the park, wandering along the coast path, hanging out on the beach or strolling around the woods and walled garden of Silverburn Park. And you could certainly spend an even larger chunk of time exploring the land beyond: perhaps heading to St Andrews (half an hour’s drive) for stunning architecture, splendid beaches and a taste of student life, or checking out the final resting place of much Scottish royalty at Dunfermline Abbey (40 minutes). A tour of the East Neuk of Fife (half an hour) is a fine idea too – especially if you plan stops for fish and chips in Anstruther and/or picking up fresh seafood in Pittenweem. If you’re on for a proper Scottish tour, add to the to-do list a trip to Edinburgh (an hour’s drive) for famed attractions including the castle and Holyrood Palace or the cultural curiosities of its summer festivals.
