What customers say

This peaceful campsite offers stunning views and a strong connection with nature, with many guests praising its beautiful rural setting and proximity to Falkland Estate walks. Highlights include the organic farm shop and cafe, fire pits for each pitch, and spacious pitches. Facilities are generally clean and well-maintained, though some visitors noted the distance to the main block and limited shower capacity during busy periods. The site is highly recommended for families and nature lovers seeking a relaxed getaway.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked View walk up the road.

Disliked Shower block only one shower and it sprayed everywhere. Distance to walk to toilet. Needs upgrading. Water tap in field takes forever. And finally people and loud children passing by our tent as the path goes right near us .Won't be back at £35 a night was not worth it.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass campervan pitch

Liked Lovely rustic campsite next to an organic farm shop and cafe. Great walks in the park woods and 20 minutes into Falkland where there are numerous cafes and shops. Great set up. Loved the rustic and laid back feel of this place. Very peaceful. Toilets and shower clean. Nice cafe.

Disliked No hot water in the campers wash room for the pots but that may have just been a problem for the weekend we were there.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass campervan pitch

Liked Locations views and price

Disliked Very slow and lack of efficiency in the cafe which was a shame as I would have spent more but didn’t want to spend ages getting served . It seems to be a common issue as I had the same last time I stayed

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Pillars of Hercules was an amazing place. The setting was spot on. With walks and trails including the walk to Maspie Den which me and my kids both loved. The site itself is clean and welcoming with great facilities. Great size pitches that are clearly marked.
The park, shop and cafe are all fantastic aswel. It was a long drive with issues on the M6 heading up but all that stress melted away once we arrived and setup.

Liked A very nice camping. Good veggie food and hot beverages at the cafe. A long walk to the toilets though - a pity it was all booked and we could not stay longer.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass campervan pitch

Liked Beautiful location with mountain views
Farm shop on site was useful, with cafe as well not that I tried it.
Value for money as very cheap to stay

Disliked Facilities were limited particularly showers and toilets, the gents shower room and toilet cubicle doors were jammed preventing use when I was there, leaving the only option of a single disabled toilet/shower which catered for everybody staying on the site.

Non-electric hardstanding and grass campervan pitch

Liked Cafe and shop

Disliked Layout of plots isn't clear. We paid for a hardstanding plot, but it was fully grass. The toilets were a little messy.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Excellent site in a picturesque setting. Fire pits are a nice added touch for the kids to toast some marshmallows!

Disliked I booked via pitchup and was therefore not aware that the cooked breakfast in the cafe the next morning had to be pre booked the night before so worth making others aware of that if you fancy the cooked breakfast! Other smaller options were however available to order on the day.

Local attractions

A visit to Renaissance-era Falkland Palace (20 minutes’ walk) should top your to-do list, for its ornate architecture, formal gardens and real tennis court built in the times of King James V. After seeing the palace, amble up Falkland Hill (also known as East Lomond, five minutes’ drive to the car park) and be rewarded with views over Fife to the North Sea. The Fife Coastal Path (20 minutes' drive) is open to both walkers and bikers. Cyclists also have a route especially to themselves, as Pillars of Hercules is on National Cycle Route 1, a massive trail linking Dover with the Shetland Islands. To see more of Fife, take a driving tour of the East Neuk’s seaside villages of Elie (35 minutes), Anstruther and Crail (both 45 minutes, and all with tempting harbour-front pubs). Stop off in university town St Andrews (40 minutes) to see the cathedral and castle ruins, or let golfing aficionados take a guided tour of the famed Old Course. If you fancy playing on these championship links, be sure to book a tee-off time well in advance.
