Stunning seaside location
Fabulous views

  • Well-maintained, peaceful park within walking distance of Portpatrick
  • Castle Kennedy Gardens 25 minutes’ drive and Agnew Park 15 minutes
  • Spectacular Irish Sea and Dunskey Castle views from clifftop pitches
When it comes to cliff-top locations, Castle Bay Holiday and Residential Park has got it well-and-truly sorted. This peaceful, family-run and family-friendly holiday park has well-maintained facilities to keep you all comfortable, and it makes a smashing base for exploring the scenic coastline and surrounding countryside on foot, bike or by car. The owners are also on hand to give you the inside info on local shops, restaurants and pubs. Access to the site is via a secured gate, so you and yours will always be safe and secure at Castle Bay. All you need to do is relax, enjoy those sea views and perhaps have a gentle wander down to a harbour-side pub in Portpatrick.

What customers say

This campsite boasts spectacular sea views and a prime location near Portpatrick. Guests consistently praise the clean, modern facilities and friendly, helpful staff. Pitches offer stunning vistas, and the proximity to coastal walks is a major draw. While generally well-maintained, some reviews mention issues with the distance to facilities, exposed pitches in windy conditions, and a need for upgrades to the Elsan point. Occasional disruptions from site work have also been noted.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Excellent view from pitch overlooking the bay and castle. Warm and helpful reception.
Able to walk to Port Patrick village via the costal path or old railway - need a torch at night.

Disliked Touring pitches were quite a long and unlit walk to the toilet and shower block.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We absolutely loved staying here in our motorhome. The scenery is awesome. The site is friendly, well maintained and has all the facilities you expect. It's fantastic for the dogs with a beautiful coastal walk into Port Patrick. Dunsky castle is close by and at night the only lights you can see are in Ireland, which makes it a great place for star gazing. Highly recommend it and we will definitely be returning.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great views for motorhomes and nice facilities. An easy walk into Portpatrick from the site.

Reception were very accomodating and clearly made an effort to allocate a pitch that met my needs.

Disliked It's a little further to walk back and too to the facilities from the pitches due to the layout of the campsite, presumably to give campers the best views.

This whole coast is expensive for campers and this continues in respect of the traders in Portpatrick.

For the camping I paid £35 for a grass pitch with electric and a small awning. Note on Pitchup website it stated the awning was included but on the payment form a fee of £5 was added.

Local attractions

Take a stroll through the lush waterside plantings at Logan Botanic Garden (half an hour’s drive), where – thanks to the warming presence of the Gulf Stream – palms and eucalyptus trees thrive, while loch-side walks at Castle Kennedy Gardens (25 minutes) lead to the photogenic ruins of a castle and swathes of colourful rhododendrons (the latter in spring). When the kids need a relaxing run around in the fresh Scottish air, take them to Agnew Park (15 minutes) for go-karting, boating and expeditions aboard a mini train. There are walking and cycling trails for all abilities in Galloway Forest Park (45 minutes), where you could also surprise youngsters with feeding the goats at the Wild Goat Park (50 minutes). There are golf courses and fishing lakes within half an hour’s drive, and if you hit an odd rainy day (this being south-west Scotland), pay a visit to the fighter jets in their hangars at Stoneykirk Aviation Museum (15 minutes).
