Electric gravel pitch

Liked: It was a great campsite, very clean and tidy, welcoming, free showers (was even invited back after my race to use the showers before I headed home if I wanted to). Quiet Hot showers Games room Good pot washing facilities Excellent WiFi

Disliked: I don’t think there was kitchen facilities other than the pot washing. I was self sufficient for this but just something to mention for those that aren’t

Electric gravel pitch

Liked: From the minute we entered the park I knew it would be good, the man at reception couldn’t be more helpful, polite and friendly- set us off to select any pitch we wanted - showers were lovely and clean as were the toilet facilities. Highly recommended for just more than an overnight stay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike here.

Electric gravel pitch

Liked: Nice location lovely walk for dogs on site. Clean very tidy and a warm welcome.

Disliked: Could probably do with more toilets and showers. It was fine when we stayed as only 3 other vans but if busier I think the facilities might be short.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. The team work really hard to keep the site looking nice and clean and try to make sure everyone has a warm welcome. Lots of customers really appreciate the dog walking field, with the mowed path by the river. We are pleased you thought it was a lovely place for dogs on site. Regarding the need for more toilets/showers, we have two large toilet/shower rooms a short walk away by reception. The team at Newbridge Country Park, hope to see you again soon.

Electric gravel pitch

Liked: Lovely site with perfectly manicured grounds. The site is located right on the the A76 (just 10 minutes from Dumfries) but the pitches are surrounded by tall trees and you couldn't hear any of the road noise. The dog walking area sets this site apart from any other we have ever stayed at. The field is secure all the way round and runs by the side of the river. The pathways are cut into the field offering you the cleanest of walks, even when the ground is sodden underfoot. Easily accessible facilities, which were regularly checked and cleaned, including a games room (ping pong table, pool table and air hockey)

Disliked: The mixed wc's and showers are located inside the games room and it can feel a little awkward, when you rack up the pool table whilst you wait for the loo or shower. However, a little longer waly and there are some further (seldom used showers) at the entrance to the site.

From the manager: Paul, we thank you for your lovely, detailed, review. The team work really hard to keep the site looking nice and clean. Lots of customers really appreciate the dog walking field, with the mowed path by the river. A lot of our customers stay longer, or return to the site, because of the dog walking area, and how lovely the site, and facilities are. Regarding having to wait for the toilets/showers in the games room, you are right, we have to large toilet/shower rooms a short walk away by reception, for those that don't want to use the toilets/shower in the games room. The team at Newbridge Country Park, hope to see you again soon, Paul.

Electric gravel pitch

Liked: Very friendly staff, park is very well maintained, clean & very tidy. Owners obviously take pride in their park. Spacious pitches, shower excellent with very clean facilities. A good games room with pool table and table tennis. Excellent value compared to some sites around the area.

Disliked: Could possibly do with more toilets/showers. Wasn't a problem on visit as there were only ever 3-6 pitches taken.

From the manager: The team at Newbridge Country Park are very thankful of your lovely detailed review, and are pleased you appreciated the hard work that we put in, to keep the site looking so nice. Electric gravel pitch

Liked: Very well presented modern 16amp system and qiet

Disliked: Toilets need to be separated men and women which I realise is expensive for a small site

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: David we really appreciate your review. With us having unisex toilets, we find our customers are not having to wait for one particular sex toilet to be come available, so less waiting around time. A lot of smaller campsites have the same principle. Thank you again for your review.

Local attractions

Dumfries (10 minutes’ drive) was the birthplace of Robbie Burns in 1759; see displays on the life of Scotland’s favourite poet, as well as portraits and period rooms, at the Robert Burns House, or read more about his life and times at the Robert Burns Centre, an 18th-century watermill sitting on the banks of the River Nith. There’s more on his backstory at Robert Burns Ellisland Farm (five minutes), a sprawling homestead where he once farmed. Spectacular Drumlanrig Castle and Gardens (20 minutes) makes a great day out for all the family, with its stellar art collection, woodland walks and adventure playground. For more Scottish heritage, stop by the moated remains of medieval Caerlaverock Castle (25 minutes), or have a nose around impressive cloisters of 13th-century Sweetheart Abbey (20 minutes) in New Abbey. If you prefer to do your exploring on foot, amble up to the 60-foot waterfall in Grey Mare’s Tail Nature Reserve (50 minutes), or pack a picnic and hike to Loch Trool and Bruce’s Stone – commemorating Robert the Bruce’s victory over the English in 1307 – in Galloway Forest Park (half an hour).
