  • Seaside escape 10 minutes' drive from award-winning Coldingham Sands
  • Watersports paradise: try surfing, kayaking, diving and bodyboarding
  • An hour’s drive from Edinburgh
They say being by the ocean is good for your health… If that’s true, a stay at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park, a site on the Berwickshire coast of Scotland, might be even better than an apple a day. Coldingham Bay is a top spot for seaside getaways, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the award-winning Coldingham Sands. This is Scotland, so you may not get the beach weather you’re dreaming of, but if the climate isn’t cooperating, go for a stroll along the shore and take in the view of the North Sea and St Abbs from one of Berwickshire’s few sandy beaches nearby. You don’t have to stay on dry land to see the Berwickshire coast – Coldingham Bay is a haven for watersports, and you can take to the seas for surfing, diving, sea kayaking and bodyboarding, all of which are within easy reach of the site. Back on site, let the kids burn off energy at the playground, then fire up the barbecue for an evening feast – pick up the necessary supplies from the shop a few minutes’ walk away in Coldingham. If you fancy a break from cooking, there are plenty of restaurants in Eyemouth, 10 minutes’ drive from Coldingham Bay.

Liked: Great base for exploring the south east coast of Scotland. Toilets and showers were clean and tidy and did the job, waste and dishes area similarly good. The reception area and bar seems new and is a good space weekend entertainment if you want to go along. Had an issue with electric this was promptly dealt with so a big thank you for that .

Disliked: I have no complaints very likely to book again or at a sister site

Liked: Nice large pitches. Clean toilets Warm shower Quiet and peaceful site

Disliked: WiFi dropped out one night but was fixed quickly. Quite a busy and fast road just outside the park, so watch out with young kids.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch (super)

Liked: This is a relaxed friendly park. Great sea and countryside views. Lots to do and see in the surrounding area. Two good play areas for children and a very good centre brand new on site with dining, a bar, arcade, entertainment and bingo. We really enjoyed the family friendly Sat evenings. Lovely friendly staff. Easy walk into Coldingham which is attractive and has a very well stocked Spar shop open all day 7 days a week. Free parking in nearby Eyemouth next to Co-op and beach and outside the leisure centre where we enjoyed a swim. Nice to wander around the shops and sit at the pleasant picnic table area near the harbour, which has tame looking seals waiting for a treat and lots of places to eat. St Abbs also lovely as are the beaches.

Disliked: Whilst cleaned daily, well kept and not unpleasant to use the toilet and shower block is looking a bit dated now and could do with an upgrade.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch (super)

Liked: The area Coldingham and St Abbs are stunning with great beaches, walks and views.

Disliked: Pitches too close together. Showers and toilets dated, damaged and not cleaned regularly enough. This is a ‘holiday park’ so be aware if your looking for a quiet site book somewhere else. If you don’t mind lots of people and loud music all day from some residents then that’s fine. Waited 10 mins at reception to check in no reception staff in sight.

Local attractions

Ramblers, cyclists and adventurers of all types will be well served at Coldingham Bay Leisure Park. Start with a stroll along the woodland paths accessible straight from the site, then graduate to something a little more challenging: the Southern Upland Way starts a 20-minute drive away in Cockburnspath and the Berwickshire Coastal Path can be picked up at the nearby bay. In the land of 'the Scottish play’, it should come as no surprise that castles, historic buildings and ruins are in no short supply around here: explore the remains of Coldingham Priory 15 minutes’ walk away, or head to Preston Mill, Paxton House, Bamburgh Castle or Ford & Etal Estates, all within an hour of the site. Beer fans have come to the right place too – Belhaven Brewery, Scotland’s oldest working brewery, is half an hour’s drive away. Make the trip for tours of the 300 year old craft brewery, stories from the beers’ history and, of course, tastings in The Monks’ Retreat bar. If you’re seeking something a little more urban, Scotland’s capital is an hour away. Stroll along the Royal Mile from Holyrood to Edinburgh Castle, find Dean Village and Circus Lane in the New Town, play a round on Bruntsfield Links and climb Arthur’s Seat for views over the city. Edinburgh’s a paradise for foodies too, with everything from gastropubs to Michelin starred restaurants dotting the city.
