North Muasdale Farm: View of the cabin

General

  • Hilltop cabin with views over to the isles of Islay, Gigha and Cara
  • A five-minute drive from Muasdale and 30 from Campbeltown
  • Hot tub, kitchenette, lounge area, ensuite, and Freeview TV

Cosy up in the comfy cabin at North Muasdale Farm and soak up the spectacular scenery – this spot sits on a hillside above Muasdale village and has views out over the Scottish islands of Islay, Jura, Gigha and Cara.

This is a splendid retreat close to the Kintyre peninsula’s beaches, walking paths, bike trails and wildlife in Argyll and Bute, with useful facilities like a kitchen, an ensuite and access to Freeview and wifi. It's also a great option for drivers looking to experience the scenic Kintyre 66 route, as the accommodation here is just off the A83.

A picnic bench for eating alfresco and a hot tub are placed outside the cabin as you gaze out across the farm and into the distance – don’t miss sunset, as the views at this time of day are especially spectacular.

When you’ve had enough of sitting around and staring at the landscape, explore Kintyre. This peninsula in south-west Scotland is 30 miles long and runs from the Mull of Kintyre to East Loch Tarbert. The site is a mile from Muasdale, which has a shop, and 25 minutes from Campbeltown to catch a foot passenger ferry over to Ireland.

We had a lovely stay at North Muasdale Farm. Catherine was a super host. The cabin was just perfect for a wee break away from normality. It was a lovely touch from The owners to have free range eggs supplied in the cabin, we made delicious scrambled eggs and the yolks were so yellow. Catherine also made us so welcome by baking us Guinness and Bailey cupcakes these were a real treat! The view from the cabin is outstanding! We will definitely return to Muasdale Farm and hopefully soon!

Nothing to fault! Great location, with a great view. The cabin itself immaculate, with everything you need to stay for however long you are staying. Hot tub nothing too fancy which in our eyes was ideal. It was also spotless inside and out! Hosts made sure we were made to feel welcome and ensured that they were available when and if we needed their assistance.

    Everything!

My partner and I have just got back from a weekend at North Muasdale Farm, we both came away so chilled and relaxed!

This place is honestly the place to come if you want some peace and quiet and an all-around relaxing time away and a picturesque drive along the way!

Our host was just amazing and so thoughtful from start to finish! On the day of arrival, Catherine communicated with us all day making sure we didn't get lost (due to my bad passenger directions!) left us fresh eggs and a surprise box of home baking the next morning!

The cabin was immaculate and had everything you need for a cozy and comfortable stay! There were plenty of towels, bathrobes for the hot tub, TV, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine. It had everything - nothing was forgotten!

Soaking up the views from the hot tub was definitely a highlight for us!

Genuinely loved everything about this place and cannot wait to come back!

Everything- the lodge/cabin,Catherine the host, the hot tub but the view was the winner! Amazing views of four islands and on some days Northern Ireland as well!!
It was the most relaxing holiday I’ve been in in a long, long time.
The cabin has been tastefully decorated with gentile colours and soft furnishings- love the sheep fabric! There were plenty of towels and robes. All cleaning products were available to use and the rubbish was sorted into different recycling bins.
The WiFi was great and could be used outside and the tv allowed us to watch a little bit of the Paralympics in the evening!
There isn’t anything that Catherine has forgot! She is so thoughtful and arriving to her home-baking and fresh eggs from her girls was just fantastic!
    Can’t wait to book again!

Local attractions

Wet your palate with the signature Campbeltown (25 minutes’ drive) single malts… with three whisky distilleries, each running tours and tastings, these are some excellent ways to unwind. Another peaceful afternoon can be tracked down on one of the local golf courses, such as the Machrihanish Golf Course (30 minutes) or the Dunaverty Golf Club (40 minutes).

While you’re at the former, don’t forget to call by Machrihanish Bay (30 minutes), where gorgeous dunes are a prime picnicking and relaxing spot. Those of you who’d rather visit new horizons, across the water perhaps, can catch a car ferry from Kennacraig to the Isle of Islay (30 minutes), where whisky, seafood, birdlife and stunning stretches of sand are all on the menu.

Another option for an escape over the water is the Isle of Gigha (an hour) – the car ferry leaves from Tayinloan. Once you alight, perhaps hire a bike and let yourself soak up the coastal landscapes on your pedals.

While you’re holidaying, you may want to track down a local landmark too. The Saddell Bay’s Antony Gormley sculpture (45 minutes) is an iron figure on the pretty Saddell Bay, looking out over the ocean.
