General
- Glamping site in a central Mull location with easy road access
- Salmon and trout fishing close by; 25 minutes' drive to Tobermory
- Cosy wooden pods with ensuite shower room, kitchen and sea views
A trip to Mull is likely to involve lots of gorgeous scenery, wildlife spotting, fresh air, scenic walks… and if you’re booking a stay at Island Pods it will also feature the chance to cosy up in a fully equipped pod while still taking in the island’s stunning scenery.
These luxury glamping pods are part of the Benmore Estate, in a handy central location that’s close to major roads but tucked away in a peaceful spot between Loch Ba and Loch na Keal. That means they’re in a great location for getting out and about to all sorts of activities, but they’re also fabulous for relaxing in between your various outings and adventures.
A particular favourite activity around here is fishing – the island’s lochs and shoreline have some excellent spots in which to catch brown trout or Atlantic salmon. And if that’s not your thing, maybe you’d like to bag a munro, get your binoculars out to see sea eagles and puffins or take a stroll around a Scottish castle? The island’s main town, Tobermory, is about 25 minutes’ drive away too, for journeys to the mainland or the more far-flung islands of the west coast.
However you fill your days, you’ll be coming back to a cosy pod with all the comforts you’d expect of a modern hotel room – along with the bonus of sea and hill views. Each pod has an ensuite shower room and a fully equipped kitchen, plus a Freesat TV, wifi connection and underfloor heating. The pods also have electric vehicle charging points on site to give a smooth ride to those in eco-friendly cars.

Local attractions
If you’re into fishing, you’ll want to bring your kit along for sure, as there are some great opportunities nearby. Loch Ba and Loch Bearnach are within a short walk, and it’s not far to the River Forsa if you’re in search of Atlantic salmon. There’s also the option of chartering a boat to get out to sea for more fishing.
Rather see the scenery while on the move? Bag a munro by taking a hike up Ben More (half an hour’s drive), or stick to coastal areas like Scallastle Forest (20 minutes), which is also a well-known place for eagle spotting. You may also like to explore some heritage routes, taking in Duart Castle (half an hour) or the Kilmore Standing Stones (35 minutes).
A trip to Tobermory (25 minutes) is a must, to see the colourful houses and visit the whisky distillery. This is also the place to find boat trips to Staffa and Fingal’s Cave or sign up for sea safaris to see dolphins, Minke whales and puffins.
